I remember seeing his first goal for Leicester. He came on as a sub against us in September 1995 at 0-0 and went to trap the ball in the centre-circle and it absolutely flew past Andy Marshall. He never had a hope of saving it...

he always comes over in his interviews as a very self-assuming individual, even to the point of shyness. Perhaps if he had been more of a big-time Charlie he might have had a greater edge to his game and have a greater reputation for goal-scoring.

 

I would imagine him being a good influence in the dressing room with the status to match. Perhaps he''d take Harry  under his wing, to the latter''s distinct benefit.

I would be physically sick if we signed Heskey.He''s never been particularly good (aside from his Leicester breakthrough season and early doors at Liverpool), he suffers horribly from poor self-confidence and if his team don''t constantly re-assure him he''s good enough he plays like complete garbage, and he''s been on an ever increasing decline over the last 5-10 years.A 1 in 10 goal to game ratio over the last few seasons at Villa tells a very strong (and bloody awful) story about his goalscoring prowess (or lack of it), and even the three years before this he only managed a 1 in 5 ratio at Wigan.Personally I don''t think he''s been Premiership quality for close to a decade and he''d represent a step down from what we already have and he''d want likely want big wages which his ability doesn''t (and arguably never has) justify.Compared to other free agents like Owen and Klasnic, he''s beyond a disaster and into the realms of a total catastrophe......avoid like the plague please Mr Hughton......

Well you don''t play the number of games he has at the level has unless you have something to offer.

 

Something often overlooked about Heskey is that the guy can actually bring down and control basically any ball. It doesn''t matter how awkwardly it comes to him, he rarely lets it get away. It''s probably that kind of thing that people in football can look at and see the value of, whereas perhaps some fans can''t see beyond the goalscoring record.

 

However, that said, despite not being a natural finisher, his goalscoring record still should be better than it is.

 

I wouldn''t be overly keen to see him here now because I think he''s had his day and I doubt he''d offer an improvement on what we have.
