BarclayWazza 93 Posted August 6, 2012 Am I the only one a little worried about the prospect of losing these two? I know injuries are an issue for both but I saw Ayala as the back up to Bennett/Turner. Surely Hooton doesn''t rate Ward that highly? Also I know its mainly rumour but I can''t understand why we''d entertain us getting shot of Vaughan. With the proviso he stays fit, from what I''ve seen of him he''s got the potential to get into double figures. Always lively and knows where the goal Maybe there are more players coming in that will eclipse these guys?
Branston Pickle 4,149 Posted August 6, 2012 No, you probably aren''t the only one worried, but there are decent reasons to let both to on loan for a time so long as they are replaced. For me, Vaughan is a little more surprising than Ayala given his apparent form ( admittedly only in friendlies), but neither had an impact on last season and if CH thinks a loan is a good idea he probably knows better than the rest of us. Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted August 7, 2012 Vaughan I would be very surprised at, as if fit surely is good enough to fight for his place. Unless hughton has a replacement in mind and is trying to finalise that deal before letting Vaughan go, I''d expect him to stay.I didn''t rate Ayala at all last season and was shocked at the extent of the praise he received for a couple of poor performances. He is composed on the ball and doesn''t panic but his tackling in particular left a lot to be desired and with Turner, Bennett, Ward, Martin and Barnett I wouldn''t feel too bad if he went. A prospect for the future yes - but needs testing somewhere else first.
Waveney Canary 0 Posted August 7, 2012 Vaughan he been a disaster in fact he was Lamberts only real screw up in the transfer market. I watched him at Celtic and Peterborough he was good but has not altered his playing style so is an injury waiting to happen. Let''s use his wages to sign a more proven forward. He is on old money so we should be able to get someone half decent in. 😃
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted August 7, 2012 You may well be right Ting Tong, but I would prefer to persevere with him for a bit longer, As you said, he was good and I agree so as long as there is a chance that we have a good standard Prem. striker on the books we should settle for that. A replacement would be highly costly. Old or new money, I feel that we have invested too much in the player just as things appear to be promising we unload. Yellowbeagle 0 Posted August 7, 2012 I''d be worried if Vaughan goes and we dont sign a replacement. Ayala is a good player but needs matches at his age, i''d be very worried at the prospect of Bennett and Ayala having to be our first choice pairing at centre back for any length of time due to their levels of experience. I just hope the motive for Ayala is purely to get first team football and to come back an even better player.

Scooby 0 Posted August 7, 2012 I have to admit to being more than a little concerned. I thought that, what seemed to be, the Lambert/McNally ethos of building a sustainable team of young talented hungry players who would do their "growing up" as a group at Norwich would be carried on through Hughton.Should he decide that maybe he cannot wait for that and needs immediate success, he may decide, as seems possible should these rumours be true, to ship out the young talent in order to bring in "established" premier league players a la Turner. The worrying thing for me is that these players are obviously surplus to requirements at their current teams, ergo not considered good enough. The only route possible is therefore a mediocre side. Do we want to be another Birmingham, Wigan, Bolton, Wolves? I think not. Keep the youngsters here, play them together, teach them together, and let them grow into the formidable outfit that I believe they can be. This would definitely include the likes of Vaughan and Ayala.
Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted August 7, 2012 Ayala needs games but i would have put him ahead of barnett and Ward. If he does go then i would expect other defenders to come in particularly at RB and LB , this of course would allow martin to cover at CB if needed. I would still be surprsed to see Vaughan go. He seems to have made a positive impact on pre season and he surly is not towards the top of our pay scales. I could see him making a positive impact, subject to fitness. We need to have confidence in the manager, he is different to lambert and it is not helpful to compare them, he has been broadly successful in the past and even if we go down he is the guy that stands the best chance of getting us up again so we dont even want to start a whispering campaign and go back to the bad old days of constant managerial changes which came close to destroying the club

Paulo_M 0 Posted August 7, 2012 I''m not worried about this in the slightest....AyalaAyala is a talented guy, but at his stage in his career he needs game time. It''s likely that Bennet & Turner will be the main CB''s. We then have Ward and potentially Russel Martin ahead of Ayala. We then also have Barnett has 4th/5th choice.I know many will think that Ayala should be ahead of Ward, but even as 3rd choice he wouldn''t get much time on the pitch. As a 4th choice he''ll have even less time (note that personally think Ward gets a lot of unjustified stick... yes he made mistakes last season, but so did all our CB''s including Ayala). As such, sending him out will hopefully improve his game... we''ll benefit either by having an improved player season after next or then selling him at a profit... if he sits in the reserves he''s not going to rise in value at all.VaughanAgain, he''s a talent, but has big big injury issues. Sending him out on loan or selling him means another club takes the risk on him rather than us. He may work out for the new club, but then again it may not. If we send him out on loan and he succeeds, again like Ayala that''s a longer term benefit to us. I think it''s also likely we''ll play with 1 up front next season due to our midfield options, so I expect Holt & Morison to be ahead of him even if he stays.I also expect he''s on big money compared to the rest of the squad, so this may free up funds for another player.
