In football 100 metres is a long way to run. In fact it''s only 10 metres short of the minimum length of a football pitch. Many of the players suggested here are known for their pace over much shorter distances. I remember years ago being told that the fastest player over 100 yards was Duncan Forbes. He would have been one of the slowest over the first 5 yards though. Darren Huckerby had great pace over shorter distances but over 100 metres I wouldn''t be confident he would have beaten the Doc[:O]

You won''t remember Crossan Nutty but he was unbelievably quick. I remember him taking a corner once and then running round to header it home......

That''s 50 yards at most Lapp. I remember Duncan Forbes heading the ball clear from his own box then getting on the end of that header in the opponents box to score....

Not half as fast as me and a few others after away games in the early 70''s

Usain Bolt ?

not half the far ken bolt (for it) we had to make at Stoke away in ''75

it wasn''t even a starting pistol that got us going, more like a ''starting'' bottle being thrown at us

happy days

If it is drawn from all players past and present then Otsemobor would need to be in there somewhere.  Quickest player I''ve ever seen (remember him doing Bale in a foot race?)
