Indy 3,471 Posted August 22, 2012 Not that I have heard anything, but with WBA picking up Lakaku and Wood being someone Chris Hughton loaned last year at Brum, his goal scoring record and fitting the style of play Hughton likes as the big man up top holding the ball up could this guy be the new striker? Not a bad scoring record and fairly quick over the floor too for a big unit! Just a thought.
Row D Seat 7 0 Posted August 22, 2012 I don''t think so. He''s a championship player really and with all due respect we have quite a few of those. We need to be looking to show some proper ambition and bring in a real decent striker.Hooper has been mentioned, which I think would be great. Rhodes - not so sure. Owen - no thanks. GJP 79 Posted August 22, 2012 To be fair he''s still only 20 years old and has already shown he can score in the Championship and on in the international stage. I think he''s got a decent chance of making it at Premier League level and probably a better chance than, for example, Martin or Vaughan. Whether you''d want to rely on him right now or not is a different matter thoughl.
Jim Smith 2,610 Posted August 22, 2012 He''d be a decent understudy for Holt and Morison but to be honest i''d be annoyed if we brought in that type of player right now. We don;t need that, we need a genuine poacher, preferably with a bit of pace, to play on the shoulders of the defenders and get in behind them from time to time. Bing Bang 0 Posted August 22, 2012 Championship player all day long, no better than what we have, no thanks
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted August 22, 2012 Why would we want West Brom''s 5/6th choice striker?, that would be the equivilent of them wanting Chris Martin??
Indy 3,471 Posted August 22, 2012 That''s a great statement, GJL why indeed would we want a premierships 5 choice striker when we can spend 6 million on a striker who Ipswich got rid of two years ago to Huddersfield! Sometimes to develop the right player needs the right manager and club! Wood might be right for Norwich and Hughton might be the manager to get the best out of him! Did well at Brum undr Hughton. He''s only just 20 and bags of potential, Martin is what 23 now? and had the chance. Note should be that wages and tranfer in our budget! again I doubt we will be paying bigwages which will restrict who we can buy!
