lake district canary 0 Posted July 10, 2012 Hugh! Hugh.........ton, Not Huff-ton or How-ton or Hough-ton or even Who-ton. Hugh-ton. I''m not the forum police or pretend to be - but doesn''t it show respect for people if we get the spelling of his name right? It''s not as if it''s difficult to remember. We don''t spell Holt - Hoult. It just shows respect.

If you''re happy mispelling things its up to you, but when it comes to names, unless it is an affectionate nickname (as in "Lake d**head Canarie" to quote another user [:P]) spell it right. Why wouldn''t you?

We all mispell of couse but should be treated with more care. I too have had to struggle with the predictive use of Houghton but correcting it is hardly finding the Higgs Boson. Anyway, the OP was not just talking about you and predictive text doesn''t explain other posters nor Morrison, Hoolihan and even Shackle. As for Zema, it is a general rule that those who object to the maintenance of standards have none. Thanks for confirming the rule.

VampiroNCFC 0 Posted July 11, 2012 This is Norfolk. People spell however they want. I myself can be a bit of a grammar and spelling nazi but human error is a beautiful thing and something that makes the world as interesting as it is.
