Proper Charlie 0 Posted June 7, 2012 I suppose the only answer to that is that time will tell, i have a feeling we will have a settled defence and not leak as many as last season though. Fingers crossed he can persuade Holt to stay so we are still firing up top, with those 2 combined the outcome can only be good!!
Phillip J Fry 0 Posted June 7, 2012 From what I understand Chris Hughton will change his formations and players whenever he feels it''s needed, however he won''t change formations and squads just for the sake of it.
Salopian 1 Posted June 7, 2012 Lambert and the players frequently said that in their training they regularly tried different formations and different positions. This is surely right, and I amsure that Hughton will be the same - produce a squad which can efficiently change the way it plays. I can''t see the new manager being any different. Lambert changed selected players frequently for much the same reason, but also to involve as many of the squad as possible, to keep them match fit, to rest some players in the crowded part of the season, and also as "horses for courses" - selecting players for the greatest prospect of success against the opponents that week. Again, I can''t see things changing very much. The big unknown is which, if any, players he signs over the summer. There will always tend to be a core of players whose names go on the sheet first - Ruddy, Howson, Hooly, Holt, Naughton, Bennett(CB), and one or two near to this - Pilkington, Tierney, Bennett E. If he is able to add one or two "match winners", then the "permanent" core may become larger. I really can''t see much change, apart from new signings, because there will be the same needs - keep fresh, keep match fit, varying tactics and special tactics for individual opponents. It will be interesting to see how Hughton handles substitutions during a match.
