Waveney Canary

Why are the club so slow in saying anything

Recommended Posts

I hate to hear from the Sun what is going on why dont we hear first from the club. I hope they are having a board meeting now where they appoint Culverhouse. Now that would be a slick bit of leadership from Delia and Co.

PS Thanks Paul Lambert for saving the club and I wish you all the best just not when you play the Canaries.

I was then about to post the exact same thing!! There''s been this rumour out there that he''s left for about 3 hours now, and still nothing from the club. Not a denial, not a confirmation etc. Very strange if you ask me.

Could be many reasons - still in discussion with Lambert, taking legal advice with regards to Villa''s approach and/or paper articles. What I will say is that the silence is deafening, there is clearly something in it or they would definitely have quashed the rumours as soon as possible.

I am getting cheesed at this. It is 10 to 10 and we have heard nothing (either way) It only takes a couple of phonecalls etc and we can move on. This is massive news for tens of thousands of people and the silence is deafening (and telling?)

Because theres nothing to say?Paul Lamberts representatives are expected to meet with Villa today.Notice the word "expected"The press are gagging for this to happen, whilst I am not denying it may, they are doing a lot of guessing and speculating to fill column inches.

Peter, reports started to emerge last night, so much longer than 3 hours ago!

I believe an official statement will be released later, but I guess things just have to wait for talks to settle between us and Villa over compensation and such before the club will go public. I would imagine they will also put a shortlist together of new managers to cover the panic it all might cause

Guys, calm down.  Keep both clubs official sites open on your desktops - that''s where you''ll here official news first.  If you want any hope at all the Villa one just has a rumour ticker going with the latest "gossip" on the web, nothing offiicial from them at all about any talks at all.  If our club is in the wrong are Villa too?

I think that it''s all hype and McNally and Lambert are enjoying winding up the world and his wife - I think McNally will be using it as phishing exercise to get as much out of Villa about their plans through Lambert having talks with them as possible.  I think that''s what Whelan has used Martinez for - to pull one over the "big boys"!

But I am always Percy Positive.

My opinion is this:Lambert was told he''d not be given permission to talk to Villa > He said he''d resign if he wasn''t given permission > The board decided it would be better to give him permission and hope he turns them down than to have him resign without knowing.Hence the wait. But even with that scenario it would mean we''ve given permission for PL to talk to Villa.

On Sky Sports News a few minutes ago they were saying they understand that PL is still our manager at this point and has not resigned.

My point is that Board just need to tell the fans what is going on 1 way or the other. A lesson from the past few weeks is we need a shake up of how our media dept at the club works. OTBC

On a press conference?

Or anything official?

Because of modern society''s need to know everything about everyone every second of the day, do you really expect the club to officially announce anything at this stage?

Anything they say at this stage actually jeopardises/portrays the club in a bad light until the move is either 100% completed or ruled out.

It''s the same with player transfers, as much as everyone wants the latest news and developments, it does more harm then good if you''re the buying club or the club losing their manager.

Stay Calm.

I think a salient point here is that folks need to remember it is the function of press organisations not only to report news, but to fan the flames and create it where they can also.Sky sports news have made a living out of trying to convince us that what they have to say is the most important thing ever! What we basically have here is a load of rumours, and a "Lamberts representatives will possibly meet Aston Villa today"And a lot of people trying to hype it all up to fill column inches.

Well I rang them on Tuesday and they said they were doing a stock take and couldn''t take any calls re mechandise or send any goods out until Friday so maybe that explains the silence [:)]

On an Archant messageboard. Really? Think about it.

The silence definitely indicated there must be talks going on and that Lambert is likely to leave.

When the Burnley approach happened, we got a statement very, very quickly. All is not good

IMO The Sun has printed worse and yet nothing is said.
