stratton canary 134 Posted June 3, 2012 I''ve been banging on about Chris Hughton becoming the next city manager, but have been speaking to a friend in the midlands who reckons WBA would''nt pay the compensation B''ham where looking for, I can''t see us doing it either, anyone knows if thats true? Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted June 3, 2012 I saw £2.5m, but who knows what the real figure is....certainly seems likely to be more than we''d get from Villa, so would probably blow a bit of our kitty.
stratton canary 134 Posted June 3, 2012 Sorry mid-norfolk canary, did''nt think to ask, we just disscussed who city might have their sights on
York Canary 28 Posted June 3, 2012 Pay it. McNally is probably getting as much as he can from Villa so he can do just this..I hope

York Canary 28 Posted June 3, 2012 There were quite a few stories at the time that Hughton wanted his own backroom staff at WBA and it proved to be a big stumbling block
paul moy 235 Posted June 3, 2012 I mentioned a couple of days back that it is 3 million and a very good reason why we won''t go for him. If we had given much less than that to Lambert we may have kept him IMO.
stratton canary 134 Posted June 3, 2012 We could give them Holt, then we could have Hughton & his backroom staff, simpalls!
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted June 3, 2012 We wouldn''t blink at spending £3m on a striker, why would that be too much for the right manager? If thats what it costs to get the right man for the job then so be it.

In many respect the manager is the most important player in the team (Lambert being an good example). No point in being cheap when it comes to the manager
Devils Advocate. 0 Posted June 3, 2012 Cheap if it keeps us in the Premiership . But would he want to come here ?

Greg Downs Hairpiece 0 Posted June 3, 2012 Agreed.Plus this uncertainty is playing havoc with my colitis. After spending half of last year in Addenbrookes i thought my new drugs were controlling the condition but since Lamberts departure i have had a minor flare up.My specialist always explains stress management is key but heck ....... We suffered defensively last season and people here (morty, mister chops etc) have stated that Holloway is a non-starter owing to his ''kamikaze'' approach where tactics are concerned, but I would urge the former to take a swift glance at statistics from last season: Holloways Blackpool conceded just 7 goals more than Hughtons Birmingham and of course the former beat the latter to compete in the play-off Final against West Ham - the exertions of half a dozen Europa League matches may have taken its toll on Birmingham, but nothing in the stats suggest that Hughton is more clued up defensive wise than Holloway, ''least not enough to warrant a couple of million in compensation.I''d take either of the two, but Holloway remains my first choice for monetary reasons.Oh, and Holloway said the following in reply to whether QPR could beat Man City: “I am a football manager. I can’t see into the future. Last year I thought I was going to Cornwall on my holidays but I ended up going to Lyme Regis.”

E.L.F. 0 Posted June 3, 2012 Didn''t Malky just sign on for 3.5 year extension in Cardiff? That would make a 4 year compensation fee for him, so I don''t think compensation would be a major stumbling block (IMO).
