TIL 1010 5,123 Posted June 4, 2012 The silence for days surrounding Lambergate from inside Carrow Road with regard to the rumours was almost deafening and yet within just hours of us all accepting that he had gone suddenly out comes a statement saying that applicants had been showing interest and expressing their desire to fill the vacancy.I would have thought that until NCFC confirmed there is a vacancy for the job as manager that this statement was just a tad premature. Salopian 1 Posted June 4, 2012 It''s not hard to imagine who they are:- former managers, (temporarily) not in a position, and some present managers.- former Norwich players- recently retired players- members of coaching staffs- those presetly agents? Whenthe flood was first announced there had still not been a public assertion from Villa, so presumably many people showed initiative. They knew that Norwich want to resolve this fairly soon, in order to sign players, and some may have claimed to be able to bring excellent players or have influence over them. In any event the CR appoinment is a (junior) plum(b) appointment, and they were intent not to be missed off the short list because CR did not know of their interest. Reggie Strayshun 0 Posted June 4, 2012 Until Tilly made this thread, tbh I''d never really considered whether football clubs get the same deluge of wild and wacky, no-hoper applicants as any company does when a senior position becomes available. But I suppose they do, and therefore, strictly speaking, they will have been "inundated" with applications. The fact that 99.9% of them are non-starters is neither here nor there. Just one thought ; I wonder if Mc N (or one of his minions) actually replies to them all to inform the applicant he''s been unsuccessful on this occasion.? CiderkiddCanary 0 Posted June 4, 2012 I wrote an application letter before the appointment of Grant at the tender age of about 15, emphasising my successes with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on the version of Football Manager released at the time. I received a rejection letter thanking me for my interest, so I should imagine they do send a rejection letter to all applicants.
