Gingerpele 0 Posted June 6, 2012 I''m not 100% sure what I think of this, originally I thought it was a terrible thing to happen, would never want it to happen here. And while that is still how I mainly think of it, I am kind of interested to see how it turns out. It could give Cardiff a real boost, get them promoted and help establish them in the Premiership, with a fair bit of money.Problem is, you can''t tell now how successful this is going to be. If in 3 years time, Cardiff players are on their summer break after a second season in the premiership, then it will have been the best thing to happen to the club. But, is it still your club? If its all -re-branded'' its kind of something different isn''t it?

K Lo 250 Posted June 6, 2012
Would Brazil change their colours? Would Australia change their colours? Is Norwich our Brazil, our Australia? Clubs evolve. We evolved into a club that wears green and yellow. Its established, popular and instantly recogniseable. You can keep your £100 million if it means you want to change clubs beyond what is reasonable. If cardiff want to change their colour it means they are evolving. Blue obviously didn''t mean that much to them. Fair enough. But Norwich is green and yellow. It''s iconoic and ours. Change it? Not on your nelly.
I''ve seen two England Germany games where 1 match Germany are in red, England in white, the other match Germany are in white, England are in red! I can''t remember the years that this occured but it did strike me that two fierce footballing rivals had, for those matches, swapped strips!
theboysof72 0 Posted June 6, 2012 The whole thing is wrong but what I''m wondering and it may seem trivial is are they going to spend a fair wad of cash replacing 20 odd thousand blue seats for red ones in a 3 year old stadium.
......and Smith must score. 1,638 Posted June 6, 2012 As I understand it for the time being at least Cardiff will play in red shirts at home and blue away. The Club badge has also been redesignedIf a Cardiff fan really cannot stop his or herself buying a new shirt every time then I hope they would buy just the blue. It''ll look a bit odd in a few years time if the team are in red and the fans in blue but then if they will go messing with the present arrangements...... grantroederdisaster 0 Posted June 6, 2012 I feel for Cardiff City FC because they were in a position where they have been held to a ridiculous ransom demand! Don''t knock messrs Smith, Jones and Foulger again please!

TIL 1010 5,304 Posted June 6, 2012 Indeed Cluck the flirtation with the Bruce Oldfield yellow shorts lasted just one season when the crowd voted for a return to green shorts on a show of yellow or green cards at a home game.Delia listened to concerns and allowed the fans to have there way. Obviously no way was your post a cheap point scoring exercise yet again at her expense so maybe you could explain what happened in the 1969/70 season when the black shorts which had been worn for decades were abandoned in favour of the current green ones. What brought that change about i wonder? It shows that change can be, and was, accepted however, IMO, the shorts we wore during those years have yet to be improved upon.
PurpleCanary 6,466 Posted June 6, 2012 Not terribly relevant to the argument, but Cardiff City (although they weren''t called that at the time) didn''t start out playing in blue, just as we didn''t start out playing in yellow. A rather distinctive chocolate and yellow combo:

Indy 3,500 Posted June 7, 2012 I don''t know what all the fuss is about, they are still in Cardiff, still play in hte same ground, the same players and the same fans. So they now have Red shirts and a new badge! Clubs change their badges all the time, Arsenal, Spurs, Leeds to name a few have changed their badge recently! I find it funny that most people like to see what colour the next away strip is going to the be and have no issue buying that, what ever the colour! Every club has changed something about it''s history, be it change of groungd, kit colour and owners come and go! The first franchise club is MK Dons! For me if Branson decided he wanted to buy and invest 100 million into City, would you be happy to wear red shirts with Virgin on the front if that meant we can compete, it''s not sellig you soul to the devil its football in this modern time. Yes it''s lovely to be think everything here is great, but three years ago we were nearly no club at all, we got the right people in place and with some fortune and vision we are now into a second season in the premiership. Would you say no to 100 million just so we wear yellow? I love Morty, he is indeed spot on with his comments this club has been run in the right way, we all love the club for what it is, but as asked on Talk Sport would you rather 2nd division as we are or premiership with selling your soul! Just asking the question as my heart is with the way the club is now set up but my head says yeh I would consider investment with conditions.
morty 0 Posted June 7, 2012 I think the salient point here is that they didn''t have a choice. Accept the investors conditions or go under.Obviously if we were in the same position we couldn''t be choosy.

Jonzey 0 Posted June 7, 2012
Yeh but this has been the way football has been moving, as for fraqnchising well that has happened too MK Dons anyone! Selling your soul to commercial men has been the way of football for many years now and to survive and evolve that is what is required. Not that I like it not one bit. Football should look at American way of doing things, evening the playing field, but the big boys won''t allow that! 10 million pound wage limit. 25 man squad for the year, no tranfer window. Any player in your squad over 23 years old and not named in the 25 is a free agent allowed to sign for other teams. 15 UK born players to be named in the 25 man squad. 5 teams relegated and 5 promoted each season. Premier League, FA Cup & League Cup winners Qualify for Champions League. That would sort out Football and level the field, every team can go into the season with expectation, how nice would that be a league where you don''t really know if you will win or get relegated! Just my opinions for the best way forward for the FANS!
I completely agree with that. Obviously it will never happen as football is a cash cow for an array of different people, and pretty much all of these sensible suggestions would be impossible unless these leaches were cut off..... ...but even if they were possible in this country, the only way to make it work would be if every FA with money in the world agreed.
