You''re wrong anyway, Edmund. I can think of plenty of examples from the late eighties and early nineties of fans applauding the opposition. Three that come to mind straightaway - City fans applauding an astonishing goal by Siggi Jonnson for Wednesday against us - sometime around 87, I''d think. A standing ovation for Gazza as he was substituted after giving the best individual performance I''ve ever seen from an opposing player at CR Leeds fans applauding Goss''s goal at Elland Road - 1993. You''re perfectly within your rights to say that you think it''s wrong to applaud the opposition, but to claim this is some kind of new phenomenon is total nonsense.
FACTS!! AAAARRGH!ONE1! SIGGI JONNSON WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH DELIA IN 1987. STEPHEN FRY HAD BUMMED HIS WAY ROUND THE ENTIRE ELLAND ROAD CROWD IN 1993. GAZZA? NOOOOOO! HIS TEARS STARTED THIS LUVVIEDUVVIEDOM IN 1990. MELTING! MEEEEELLLLTING!!!1

And another one. Take your ridiculous jester hat off and read up about what supporting a football club was like when football was football. You''re either too young or you''ve forgotten.

Oh the good old days, jumpers for goal posts, slap anybody tha looked at you funny, throwing bog rolls onto the pitch, you looking at me funny Edmund, are you, do you want some?.......
The hooliganism issue going back to the 70s is way over stated and I doubt hardly anyone on here got involved in a ''proper'' scrap.... Testosterone has a great way of exaggerating reality.

Nothing wrong with wig-wearing fun-having family supporters.I do however, think applauding Gerrard of our pitch is really, really sad.

Quite strange really because without this group of supporters referred to by the op and edmund our great club would probably be playing somewhere between league 1 and the conference rather than the premiership. Maybe op you miss the scenes of Hillsborough, Valley Parade and Hampden Park. People who wanted to attend football in those days often would not due to the violence seen at many matches.

When Norwich are away and we dont travel where possible where we watch Cambridge. Just to show how football has changed forever our lad and all his mates find it totally unbelieveable that people have to stand in some stands.

I really must say I hate Saurez but that goal he scored against us was something else and I found myself along with other season ticket holders applauding an amazing goal. When this is shown over and over again in the future we will be able to say I was there when that happened.

I wasn''t in favour of people applauding opposition players while the match was going on but I have to say that if it winds certain people up then I''m all for it. I''m very much in favour of binners and bigots showing themselves up. Pls.

Edmund what are you on about?

Football has moved on since ''back in your day''. The same as everything else in this world..

But I guess your ''rep'' would drop if you downed the stone island jacket and sported a yellow&green wig?

I think it''s about time you grew up son.

Not everything moves on for the better. Perhaps you''re too young to remember what having a top flight side challenging for honours is like.

Your apparent celebration of mediocrity is a contributing factor as to why the Chase glory years are unlikely to be revisited.
My Father brought me up better than to waste my energy applauding some has been that has just spent the last hour and a bit doing their utmost to put one over our team. It''s an unclean practice, almost impure, especially when it''s the likes of Gerrard who is no more than a thug in boots. How quickly people forget his nightclub shenanigans.

The crowd are gradually being dumbed down by the Delia Hype Machine, before long we''ll have half the ground cheering opposition goals and seeing jolly well played, parasites.
You had a father?

Edmund, you are right. Not everything moves on for the better, but take a look at our attendances over the past 15 seasons. It''ll show you what making football more ''family friendly'' has done for our club.

My age is irrelevant, as is your point. Just because we once had a ''top flight side challenging for honours'' doesn''t mean we shouldn''t celebrate our current position. That''s ridiculous.

Also If you''re just there to watch Norwich play as you said, why does it bother you there''s someone waving a flag. Or is that too nancy for you?

Like I said, grow up.
