RvWs 4 year contract

The thing that really worries me is...

Recommended Posts

The timing.Of all the weeks that Holt could have picked to hand in the request, why did he pick the week that we had all the speculation about Lamberts'' future? He must surely know that us fans are speculating/worrying about whether PL will be here next season so why hand in a transfer request amidst all of it?If he wants more money from the club for 3 years of amazing service, fine give it to him- I wouldnt begrudge him getting it. If he wants to move to another club where he can either be nearer his family up north or to secure the financial future of his family then also fair enough.

But why now? The timing stinks.

If he is moving on wouldn''t you rather he did it now giving PL a decent amount of time to find a decent replacement or would you prefer he waited unril the eve of next season.

But again, with all the Lambert speculation- and OGS has since turned AV down by all accounts....Why now?

I suspect if he''d done it earlier in the season we might be looking at a relegation scenario right now. He''s in the twilight of his career and needs the money. Unskilled at anything else... not management material so tyre fitting may well be his future without a nest egg.

If OGS, a manager of a club in a tin pot league, no disrespect, has turned Villa down then you''d assume there is a pretty good reason. Like there is not enough money to match their expectations. If he''s turned it down, then you''d assume the manager of a team that''s just finished above them wouldn''t be too keen on it either.

If OGS has turned down Villa then there must be something wrong with the club, why would Lambert leave?

Agree with Mr Brownstone there.

As for Holt''s timing, I think it''s more to do with the fact that it''s the first week after the end of the season. The transfer request is either something that Holt has been thinking about for a long time (moving back up north for instance), in which case fair play to him for putting it to one side until the end of the season. OR, it''s something that has been sparked by the meetings and discussions that have taken place over the last week or so since the season finished. If that''s the case, then it''s nothing to do with lambert, it''s simply a reaction to something that has happened in the past week or so. It''d be more strange if he left it a month and then handed in the request.

His leadership qualities say otherwise.

Wasn''t the request the same day as Wilbraham was released? I know they got on, perhaps he''s unhappy with how that was done?

"If it were done when ''tis done, then ''twere well it were done quickly...."  Macbeth Act 1 Scene 7In other words, if PL and/or Holt are going to leave, lets get it over with asap, and move on. If Holt has been planning to leave for a while, I think he has actually done the sensible thing in leaving it until the end of the season, and not upsetting the apple cart while we were still playing. Remember, we weren''t even mathematically safe until three games ago, so any disruption of this sort could have been disastrous.PL has made a point, in the last two summers, of getting his business done early. The club needs to take a leaf out of his book, and get this uncertainty sorted out as quickly as possible. The thing that really worries me would be to approach the new season with everything still up in the air.Hopefully this will not be the case. In McNally we trust.[:)]

i am not a betting man but i may go down my local bookies and put a tenner on both lambert and holt still being at carrow road next season, i just can''t see either of them leaving. maybe my judgement is clouded by what i WANT to happen.

Over the last three seasons, most  of what we want to happen, has actually happened. Trust your judgement!

I''ve made a similar bet with a few mates star_maniac. I''ve actually now got a bit of a feeling that Holt will go, but I''m quite confident Lambert won''t, and I''m far from convinced that Holt will.

Might be worth a cheeky flutter!

Now I''m REALLY confused, Aggy. Are you saying that Holt will stay, or that he will be off ?!

I need to know your stance on this before I get on the line to William Hill myself.......

I''m really confused too Eric!

Originally I thought he''d stay and this would all blow over. McNally''s tweets this morning seemed fairly strange to me, and the more I think about it, the options that see him more likely to leave are beginning to seem more likely. I''m still not convinced he will go, but I''ve certainly got more of a feeling this afternoon that he will be going than I had late last night. As for Lambert, I''m still confident he''ll be here next season.

And I wouldn''t want you putting any money on anything on my say so - I stick to ''loser buys the first round'' bets and the odd 50p at greyhound races, because I''m notoriously terrible at ever doing anything other than chucking money down the pan on bets!

" with all the Lambert speculation- and OGS has since turned AV down by all accounts...."What speculation, bar the terminally dim yet again wetting their knickersIf OGS has turned down Villa then why would that be. Why has there been no other decent candidates mentioned ? Why did they only manage to get the useless McLeish last summer and why did Martin O''Neill jumps ship ?After answering those questions perhaps you might like to consider what Lambert might think. "Well no one else wants the job, even someone with NO Premier League managerial experience but hey ho, that''s the job for me. i just have to leave the most successful club I have been with, turn my back on a successful career and head to a job no one else wants "Maybe that might explain why he is still here
