That really is gutting for the guy after all the hard work he''s done to get there.I just hope that in the limited time they''ve seen him, and based on his league performances, he gets further chances for his country.Enjoy the wedding big man, and we look forward to having you back next season :)

Gutted for him. I bet he is properly p!!ssed off about it. I have no doubt that he will come back next season and prove he was worth his place in the England squad and get selected again.

absolutely gutted for him!! To be fair the chances of a game where against him but still the whole experience for him would have been fantastic!! I wonder who will get a call up now.....maybe Ben Foster?

This situation happened to Greeno 6 years ago when he was still here, for the World Cup, wtf do they do in England training! They''d only been training for one day hadn''t they?

First training session done and four injuries. Ruddy''s definitely out, Glenn Johnson has an infected toe & Welbeck''s got an ankle injury, they could both miss out and Parker is currently under observation in case his achilles reacts to the training session. Butland is now third choice keeper, Jagielka is on the standby list but Hodgson has too call up Micah Richards if Johnson''s not going surely? Henderson will come in for Parker if necessary.
Striker is interesting, if Welbeck can''t make it, than Sturridge is technically the next striker inline, but Sturridge and Welbeck are vastly different players. Holt is amongst the most similar strikers to Welbeck, but Sturridge will probably get the nod.
England Team as follows if all injuries force players out of side:
GK:
Hart
Green
Butland
DEF:
Jones
Terry
Lescott
Cahill
Jagielka
Cole
Baines
MID:
Walcott
Downing
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Gerrard
Barry
Lampard
Henderson
Young
Milner
FWD:
Rooney
Sturridge
Carroll
Defoe
England are doomed.

I thought if you can avoid damaging your fingers saving a shot from Jonno, you can from anyone!

Don''t know how it happened though obviously.

At least he can have a honeymoon now!

On the plus side. He has achieved the recognition he deserved and his profile is enhanced as is that of our Club. It is unlikely that he would have been anything but a tag-on as Hodgson inexplicably prefers Green as No.2 despite him being in the Championship for the last season.

I know who of the two I would want in our first line up next season, as do most on here I would guess. NCFC supporters are uniquely positioned to make this judgement and, IMO, whilst they are both brilliant shot stoppers and top- drawer keepers, Big J. has more command in the area and more presence within the defensive set-up than RG.

He can now concentrate on his personal matters and rest that finger for the new season ahead.

replacement was loaned out by a championship side to a league one side last year. sorry to say it but that says it all abut the standard of keepers in this country.

I had forgotten about Green. It also happened to Eadie, who was (from memory) the last NCFC player before Green to get an England call up, from Hoddle. He was on the verge of making his debut ( I think it would have been against Brazil) and got injured in training, and never got capped.

Green was injured in an England B team game against Colombia if I remember correctly. Eadie was also in the England B team, about to play in the Toulon tournament - but as PC so rightly points out got injured in training (which was his favourite hobby at the time).

Really gutted for him.

Oh well, maybe he''s got his bad luck out of the way for the Euros and he''ll be fine when the World Cup comes around - which is the one that really counts.

While I agree that there is not much depth, I actually think goalkeeper is the one position where the England side has world class talent and very good immediate back up. If every position on the field enjoyed such strenght of talent i think we would be alot more excited about our prospects at Euro2012.

Having Wiki-ed it now (and Wiki is generally OK) it seems Eadie was about to get a full England cap by starting against Brazil in the Tournoi de France, but got injured in training, which was the incident I remembered. Later he got selected for the squad again, but got injured again, and that was that.
