RvWs 4 year contract

FAO those who booed at the end of the Norwich Wigan match...

Recommended Posts

Thing that intrigues me about Wigan is they are doing it playing a 3-5-2 system. I was one of the people who absolutely panned it when we used at Fulham. But if we acquire the right players to utilise it effectively it could be a system with some mileage.

Been thinking that myself, actually looks a really good point now!

Strange side Wigan, seem to really kick off towards the end of the season after being so-so for the opening months.

Nonetheless hope they stay up, good footballing side, was a good 2 points to get against them!

Give it a rest....

We were favourites, like Man.C were favourites against us. Don''t you think the Man.C fans would have been a little disappointed if they hadn''t won?

I''m glad that Wigan are showing up the morons who booed our lads. They give 100% every week in the worlds toughest league.Booing is not on. Ever.

Didn''t most of the people who booed, say they were booing the ref anyway?

And its not about who you played, or how well Wigan are doing now. I have never booed (Norwich or the ref, or any player) and never will, but people are allowed to do what they want (within reason), booing is not against the law.

Wigan have indeed been superb in recent weeks. If only they had a goalscorer or two.I guess the same fans who think that Man City should not be buying league titles are the same fans who think that we should roll over little Wigan and their pathetic support though?

hang on a minute?!?......its all very easy to be wise after the event but we played Wigan before they played Liverpool,Man United and Arsenal...unless your crystal ball foresaw these results back then ?!?!?

Hmmm ok... new one on me.This season has been superb, the team has given everthing.Maybe instead of booing because we didnt roll over a team that has subsequently shown to be quite a decent team we should get behind the team at every game instead?

How many people thought we should roll over little Wigan?

For goodness sake, the generalisation on here is ridiculous.

Favourites, are that for a reason. It is not wrong to expect your team, to beat a team who aren''t as good as you. Wigan had not been as good as us up to that point, and still haven''t. They are below us, if out lack of clean sheets doesn''t matter, Wigan beating Man.U and Arsenal doesn''t matter because were above them in the league.

It was a game we were favourites in, we had a couple of poor games and Lambert normally has his team back and to their best very quickly, that game was one of the first couple that Wigan really started to do well in. It was not wrong for people to expect us to win, or even dominate Wigan.

I think its wrong that people are upset that people thought we should thrash a team lower in the league...

Well just remember that you are a better person because you don''t feel the need to boo your team.

I don''t understand why people boo, unless its a really dire situation/the team aren''t putting any effort in (like I wouldn''t have any complaints with people booing that game against a certain legendary managers old club).

But I also don''t really understand/like people moaning about what other fans do all the time... I realise i''m pretty much doing the same, but surely we should all just let fans get on with what the want to do? If they feel the need to constantly moan, its their enjoyment that is being lost, if they feel the need to boo, its them that look silly...

I dont think I''m a better fan than anybody else. I find the ''aviva fan of the year'' comp absolutely abhorrent. We''re all equal as City fans and certain people would do well to remember that... different story though.Anyway... to move back on topic.Sure it''s up to other fans if they wish to boo but when they do it in a season as wonderful as this, it quite frankly reflects badly on me and the other fans. That''s when it becomes my right to criticise the booers.

Better person, not necessarily better fan.

And the ''fan of the year'' thing, just a bit of fun really isn''t it? I don''t think these people think they are superior in anyway, or at least I hope they don''t think that...

They might start prizing some of the Rugby fans away soon....

What they should do, is play the football matches directly before the rugby games, and you can only watch the rugby if you watched the football...

I''m with you Shaker,  booing our own players should be the last thing any ''fan'' should be doing this season.   Everyone has a right to their opinion, but booing  should be kept  for opposition players and refs.     Unfortunately there is a breed of fan out there who are not interested in being good supporters and are only interested in what they want to see.    If they don''t get what they think they ought to get they throw the toys out of the pram and thats when you get the occasional moronic booing.   They do it out of ignorance and a lack of caring for the club and players and the rest of us fans.  It is the selfish cry of the johnny come lately fan who has no idea about football and what their club is all about.

Wigan have now only lost twice in the League since Feb 4th (three ganes before they played us), which vindicates the view of people such as myself that the point against them was a valuable one. Wigan always seem to go on a run at the business end of the season and survive and it looks as if they are going to do it gain this season.....

It wasn''t just a valuable point. It was also a most enjoyable game. Which is why I struggled to comprehend those who thought it was our worst performance of the season. Tonight''s game at the Emirates was similar with both sides going for it to the end.

I don`t know if we were favourites or not going into the Wigan game, but one thing i know is that their squad will be paid more than ours and contains players with way more Prem and international experience.  They are a very handy Prem team as they are now proving.  Anyone who felt a drawer was a big disappointment was just showing their ignorance.

Personally I think that the only valid reason for booing your own team is when you think they are not putting any effort in. And I defy anyone to claim that about a Paul Lambert team - the teams I''ve seen over the last three years have been about the most committed and determined City sides I''ve ever watched. I think that anyone who booed the team for drawing with Wigan is a moron. (And I don''t think I''ve ever been angrier at a football ground than when people booed that defeat to Doncaster last season - what the hell were those people thinking?)

However, I think football clubs are not entirely innocent in this. When I started watching City (in 1985) it cost about four quid to get in. Now it''s ten times that. It turns fans into customers who feel they have a right to demand a certain quality of ''product''. ''If I''m paying 45 quid for a ticket I want to see a win''.

Everyone loses as a result of this thinking. As Nutty''s post suggests, the idea of the enjoyable game is lost. Too much rides on it for the players, who cheat and then blame the refs for not seeing the other side cheat. And customers boo when they don''t get the result they want.

Like the golden age of cinema when you watched the ''B'' feature before the main event, the ''A'' feature film.  Sometimes, the ''B'' movie was the better one!

I am sure Nutty will be able to confirm this^[:P]
