Michael Oliver still as useless as ever!!

Cor'' Blimey I hate him! Yesterday''s performance was just a shambles (from him of course). I don''t care now obviously, as we won. [:P] But we should have had at least 2 pens (maybe 3), and they could and probably should have had 2 reds minimum. Should have been a lot easier for us, but having said that it makes it look far more impressive against 11 (12) men. + Spurs fans saying rested team??? Parker only player rested, what about Fox, Hoolahan etc?Surely he should be banned from refereeing us in future? Clearly hates us.

I hate to be paranoid but if Bennett had done that to Defoe in the area what would the result have been? Red card and penalty. Almost certainly. But it makes the result all the more impressive.

This is getting beyond a joke , he could possibly have had an excuse with the King / Holt incident as tries to hide shirt tug etc but the Wils one was right in front of him and on a player about to receive the ball I can not see how he possibly could miss that. He is becoming very much a homer referee that is easily influenced by the crowd and if had been Spurs player fouled and crowd shouted would have been penalty.I have never liked this fast stream promo of refs you need to earn your spurs (pun) in the lower league, there is no substitute for experience.I like the idea of a one match ban on a ref when he is so poor as I see they do in Rugby League! Bet we do not get an apology from Mr Oliver for missing two "stonewall" penalties.

Some of the refereeing in L1 and The Championship was absysmal so I was looking forward to some ''professional'' refs in the Premier League.

Sadly it seems as though the standard is not that much better. Top teams definitely get the rub of the green it appears.

[quote user="Stirrinitup"]Oliver was awarded the paltry score of 3 (out of ten) in todays Sun.

Still a higher mark than I''d give The Sun as a newspaper...[;)]

Oliver bottled the first half penalty decision, pure and simple. Bottled the big decision in favour of the little club against big club, at the big clubs ground. Just like at the end of the Man Utd vs Fulham game on TV a couple of weeks ago.

Just watched a rerun of MOTD. The King one as we all know is astonishingly blatant,  Oliver is looking straight towards Wilbs/Adebayoor when the latter shoulder charges our player from behind so no excuses for not seeing it, the Nelsen handball wasn''t shown but what I hadn''t noticed before was the petulant kick from behind on Holt by Abdoul (again in the penalty area). One might reasonably expect a player who lashes out with his foot at another player who is not in possession of the ball to be committing a foul, having not been spotted by the officials but highlighted on MOTD is it possible that a retrospective punishment might be awarded against Kaboul thus pouring even more urine onto young Olivers particular bonfire?

One of the most annoying things is the Dermot Gallagher view of things on Sky Sports. He has slipped into a nice convenient little habit of explaining every refereeing clanger by saying "the referee didn''t see it" and, if he had done, "he would have made a different decision". Sorry Dermot - not good enough and basically pathetic.
