As Glenn Roeder Once Said

Recommended Posts

New heroes will emerge.

For once this message board seems to have set aside the carping and criticism and rejoiced in our great team and Club.   Whether or not this is the best side is immaterial.  For all they''ve achieved and for all the success, pride and pleasure they''ve given us all, they are heroes.

This team stands beside the 59ers, Saunders promotion team, the Bond team of Peters and MacDougall which established us as a top league team and even the glories of Munich.

I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in the minutiae of a particular goal or tackle that we forget the bigger picture.  The POTS has been a good reminder of all that the last three years have achieved.   In 20 years time we will look on this Golden Age as we do on the others I''ve mentioned, with the same pride, affection and respect we give them.

And blessed were we to be here and live through such wonderful days.

all of those eras remembered fondly by those lucky enough to have lived through them, but due to the changing finance of top flight football, todays effort must rank right upthere at the top of the list. when the top teams have one or more players more valuable than our entire squad it is a monumental efort to compete successfully against them. much credit must go to paul lambert and his staff, the boardroom and, of course, to the players themselves. will we be in the running for BBC sports team of the year? well, i won''t hold my breath on that one, but manager of the year must be between PL and alan pardew now though i suspect that the usual suspect will get it.

Presumably you are referring to SAF, manic ?  OK then, MoanUre have done their usual smash and grab raid on the title. Love em or hate em, you can''t dispute that they''ve got winning the title at the right time off to a fine art. But, the rest of their season has been pretty dire, actually. Hopeless in the Cups, and fell well short of European expectations.

In point of fact none of the "big " clubs managers can really hope to win Manager of the year fairly. Wenger has presided over a very patchy season. Mancini and Redknapp look to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The less said about  Dalglish and Villas Boas the better, and clearly Di Matteo has not been in the mix long enough. I''d say if Everton win the Cup then Moyes must be in with a shout. If Newcastle reach Europe, then it''ll be Pardew. If neither of those things happen, then Sir Paul (and maybe Rodgers) should be right in the frame.
