our best result for 18 and a half years?

Recommended Posts

On 27 December 1993 our great European team beat Tottenham 3-1 at White Hart Lane, and played them off the park.

I know I''m not supposed to get carried away, but I submit that yesterday''s win was our best result since.

Any other candidates?

In terms of the result, probably the most impressive I can remember. Possibly the 2-0 against Man U last time in the prem? Walking out of the game I was thinking that is in my top 3 away games - Ipswich +  Portsmouth away last year too?

The Man Utd win is the obvious contender, but I think to win away at a Spurs team that could be in the Champions League next year trumps it. Just.

Only Oliver and IMO an outstanding Ekkotu prevented us tonking them.On track to become the best Norwich squad ever

I initially thought about the 2-0 against Man Utd but this surpasses it for me. Purely because we went away, got on the front foot from the start and never let go.

Man Utd result tops it for me. Man Utd were unbeaten for their previous 20 games when we beat them. They were 2nd in the league, and were already playing Champions League football.

The Spurs win was very good also, and probably a better performance, but Spurs in self-imploding form, even at home, are not the same force as a Man Utd side unbeaten for 20 games, in 3rd place in the league and gunning for another title. They only lost 5 all season that year. Spurs on the other hand had only taken 6 points from their previous 7 games.

Have to agree with the 1-5 at Ipswich. Can''t think anything will ever top that somehow.

Beating Wolves in the play-offs was pretty special.

Beating Man U gave us a bit of hope.

But the two scum thrashings are the top choice.

I don''t think the Spurs game, despite the fantastic performance can really top the thrashings of Ipswich last season...

Hard to believe anything will ever beat that result. Given the circumstances around the game.

Personally it was a big moment for me. Missed the 4-1 due to having a heart attack 6 days earlier. Witnessing the 1-5 at Portman Road more than made up for it. Probably the best footballing memory i can remember.

The young One - the Bayern match came just before the Spurs match mentioned in the opening post, which is why nobody has mentioned it. Otherwise I think that has got to be the best result in our history!

If you mean "best in the Premiership", it may be, although beating Manure 2-0 at home last time was good. We must also admit that against Spurs we were playing a team weakened by injury and by resting players, and one that has had a long run of disppointing results.

But as the man said, you can only beat what is put in front of you, it was an away game, and we were denied at least two very good shouts for penalties, and had other good chances to score. So, it is possible to argue that it was a great result and performance, especially as we had played a tiring game just 48 hours earlier.
