blahblahblah 2 Posted April 12, 2012 ...seems to be a bit of defensive concentration at home (although we are much tighter at the back now), and a bit of luck away from home. Newcastle have had 12 clean sheets in the Premier League this season to our 2. However - If you look at goals for and against, we look pretty close to them.Newcastle at home : 25 goals for, 15 against, 35 points (10-5-2)Norwich at home : 25 goals for, 21 against, 24 points (6-6-4)Newcastle Away : 24 goals for, 27 against, 24 points (7-3-6)Norwich away : 21 goals for, 31 against, 19 points (5-4-8)The difference between us and them is the difference between 1-1 and 2-1 in a few games. Or, 1-0 and 1-1. Every sign we have, from the players'' ages, the amount of time the squad has been together, through to the recent increased fluency in play, to the extra money available from tv rights and league position "prize money" - suggests that Norwich will only improve.Crikey. Looking forward to next season already !
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted April 12, 2012 You could also argue that we''ve taken a lot of points from very tight games. 8 of our 11 wins have been by single goal margins. There is actually very little between the sides outside the top 6 this season, even those top 6 have been vulnerable at times. What has seen us to so many wins is a winning mentality, desire, work-rate & obviously good players being managed by a superb manager, not only tactically but also mentally with Lambert ensuring everybody is given a chance & treated fairly.I don''t think we''re very far ahead of the relegation battlers. However I have full faith in the commitment, desire & ability of this current group but also Lambert in spending money correctly & getting the absolute maximum of the ''squad'' of players he assembles.Onwards & upwards! Jacko 0 Posted April 12, 2012 Throw in an average attendance of 23,000 more than us and the genius of Ben Arfa now they have got him playing finally rather than using the usual cloggers as well. Lambert is an absolute magician as a manager. However there is only a certain amount you can do on our budget and cracking the top 6/7 is in all probabilty beyond him. If he does the bloke should be regarded as one of the very best in world football for me.
