No, I heard it was a five bedroomed detached in Loddon. This time two years ago he and his family only lived in a two bedroomed terraced house in Costessey.

I heard he has actually bought Kensington Palace ahead of a move to manage Chelsea. Got a few bedrooms that place...

I can categorically deny this, he was last seen looking at the house for rent offers on the customer info boards in ASDA this morning ;-)

Joke thread or not Jas, I hate any rumour regarding Lambert to Spurs - Levy rates him very highly so I was told around Christmas by Redknapp''s Isle of Purbeck golf buddy... We shall see

Lambert upping and going off to Burnley was one thing...

...if he upped and went to Tottenham, galling as it would be-I''d say "fair play and good luck" -that is an upward step for any ambitious Manager.

Cully would finally be "going home" as well!

But think they''d have their eye on a bigger name at the moment. I think. I hope...

This may act as a bit of relief for people...

My uni lecturer and one of my classmates are Spurs fans.

They were saying today that Harry doesn''t have a massive say in who the club buys and that the board goes to him with people and he says yes or no, so a little control but that the board has still bought players he''s said no to.

Lambert likes to have his own players so not entirely sure this would be his type of club judging by that...

But it would definitely be a forward step and at this moment in time yes Spurs are way ahead of we are, no doubt about it.

I can confirm that Sir Paul Lambert isn''t looking to move away from Norfolk, he is happy renting my shed for the next few years, even though I am his landlord he still won''t let me know any team news.

I think and hope that Lambert is sufficiently his own man to appreciate the best type of club to be at - that''s why he joined Norwich.   A step forward for him - if he didn''t want to stay here - may be to a club that matches what we are trying to achieve, so a similar club to us - not necessarily bigger.    It has been said many times that big clubs want big managers - but still want to have a say in which players they buy.  I don''t suppose PL would like that.    His presumed mentor - Martin O''Neill - didn''t always choose the biggest clubs - even Celtic would not have had the resources of a MU or MC.  Ambition is different things to different people.

It could just be that he has found the right club for himself to thrive at for the long term - us.

Hi Pink Un Role Model...

Seen it happen so many times and some more than me!

It''s hypothetical of course. Would Spurs want him? Right now, probably not. If they dd and he went there, would we be shafted? Well, if we were paid off as per the terms of his contract, then I guess not. Would he want to go there? No idea! But am sure any Manager would be tempted, although, given the talk of board inteference and the Manager (and they won''t be the only ones) having little say in a lot of things-well, possibly not.

The possible cycle that would worry me is if Moyes left Everton. I really could see them targetting him. Again though, would he want to go there? They last won the league in 86/87 and the FA Cup in 1995. Hardly glittering potential to win stuff, no more than us really. Big club yes, and patient with their Manager-hell yes, they aren''t for knee jerk decisions at Goodison and have stood by Moyes because he has done very well with limited resources (comparitively) to who they would consider their rivals. But Lambert wants to win things-would he go somewhere just to "mind the shop" for ten years or so?

So yes, I''d worry if Everton approached him. But you''d have to wonder what they''d expect of a new Manager and what he would expect to do there that he might not, reasonably, be able to do here!

What about Borussia Dortmund? Jurgen Klopp won the Bundesliga with them last season, so his star is rising. How much would Lambert want to go back there and manage them-he knows the club, is familiar with German football, coaching etc. And he knows he could win things, hell, it might be his first and quickest route to having a go at the Champions League.

So, Spurs? Remote I guess. Everton? Possible. Dortmund-very feasible. I just wonder how much the hierachy there are aware of how well their esteemed ''old boy'' is doing at the moment in the Premier League.

FWIW I reckon Mourinho would fancy Tottenham. I can''t see him going back to Chelsea and breaking up his team.

I echo what you and others have said, J, regarding giving our blessings to Lambert if he were to leave.

But f*ck me would I be gutted. Would be up there with getting dumped by Cheryl Cole - and before you''ve porked her

This is true of every big club in England (and many of the not so big ones). The only managers who have compelte say over transfer dealings in the top 6 are Arsene and Sir Alex - although both of them have had players forced on them, or been forced into the transfer market by owners. A ''Director of Football'' arranging transfers is very much the norm across most European clubs - Guardiola at Barca doesn''t even get complete say over the transfer dealings. Mourinho had to fight tooth and nail at Real Madrid to get his way, and is the first manager to get this power there for many years.
