Kirby_86 0 Posted February 7, 2012 Simple question, simple answers needed.I think it could be less than the traditional 40 points required for safety this season. One last thing, can''t fault the lads or Lambert at all this season...top performances from the lads on so many occasions.COYY! Petriix 3,248 Posted February 7, 2012 33...if you go on the current form of the bottom 5 and assume that at least 3 of them will remain as poor as they have been so far; which I do.
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted February 7, 2012 To be honest Kirby I think the Bolton game finally sealed it, in my head at least. Mathematicians will disagree. There are eleven other clubs below us and it is the supporters of many of those who should be asking this question, but not us budgies. Even if we sink a bit, and it certainly doesn''t look likely, then we will pick up enough points now to be safe. We have two things to concentrate on for the rest of the season. Keeping as high a position in the League as possible for the kudos and dosh and a quest for a Wembley game. We have a dam good squad of players. Let''s go for everything whilst we can as it won''t last forever. Grab the moment, as they say. Stop worrying my friend. Our current position is way beyond expectations. Enjoy. pete_norw 0 Posted February 7, 2012 I think we are safe now on 32, but this is Football, we have the chance to go on and get the 40 points without any problems, It would be nice to get something from Manure, I think we can beat them thier are points up for grabs, hope the players stay fit and focused. SnakepitCanary 0 Posted February 7, 2012 I hope that the players stay with the frame of mind that we need 40 points to stay up. I''m sure Lambert will maintain this stance.
a1canary 0 Posted February 7, 2012 I give Blackburn a maximum 14 points from their remaining fixtures, and that''s being kind. That puts them on 32.Bolton i give something similar, maybe 13, they have plenty of tough fixtures left. That puts them on 33.Then Wigan, who have some horrendous fixtures in April and are nailed on certainties for relegation imo. I give them 11 at best, giving them a pitiful total of 27.One more win will see us safe i reckon. I wouldn''t want to leave it that tight though! 40 asap please! ricardo 8,098 Posted February 7, 2012 There will be some funny results towards the end of the season so I don''t think 32 is enough.Probably 36 points will do the trick.
lake district canary 0 Posted February 7, 2012 For me the question is how many points do we think we can get? On the present schedule - given how we have been doing so far, we are on course to get around another 16 points which would put us on 48 points. As there are 14 games left, if you go on the last 14 games, that would give us anotheer twenty points making 52. If you are optimistic and think we are improving (bearing in mind the last performance with Bolton) you might think we can achieve maybe 24 points putting us on 56! As for how many points we need to stay up? I think 35. We''re not there yet, but I think most of us are looking beyond that now.
Macey 13 Posted February 7, 2012 Current form of the bottom 3-4 wont reflect on how many points they get I reckon, as someone said there will be some odd results from the ones fighting to stay up towards the end on the season. But if we keep doing what we are and take it a game at a time we should finish on 40+ id say and I doubt we will have to bite any fingernails! As to how many point will be the safe zone, I think 36-38 should do it. form of the bottom 3 at the moment says about 33 but I think they will knock in the odd shock. star_manic 0 Posted February 7, 2012 i think 35 should do it, those at the bottom this season are really dire.
Lord Horn 0 Posted February 7, 2012 I think 38 will do it but I am also of the opinion that we will end the season with about 47 points or thereabouts.
It's Character Forming 1,210 Posted February 7, 2012 My guess is 35 will be needed for safety. I would bet on Lambert to keep the team motivated so I reckon we''ll end up with 45-50 points. Definitely think there''ll be some upsets towards the end of the season (in our favour I hope!) as the players relax a bit.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted February 7, 2012 Apart from Wigan I think everyone else at the bottom have the potential to hit form and win points at home. Who knows what panic sackings are yet to happen and there consequences. Until we have 40 points I won''t relax!!!

Agreed 40 pts to be absolutely sure, but when we are more pts ahead of the team in 18th place than there are games left, I''ll be pretty confident. And that could be next week !!! Others have alluded to it, but last time we were in the Prem, we were one of only 4 teams who were miles worse than anyone else . One was going to get lucky and it turned out to be West Brom . This time there are much more of an even spread, but we do not really appear to be in the frame. It would take a massive Norwich collapse, and fantastic form by about 6 teams for us to be in trouble now.
