Horse Manure 0 Posted February 16, 2012 No fancy diagrams to show to the subs, no earpieces, no scribbling down notes every two minutes, no gloves, no snoods, no blaming refs for defeats (and we have had reason to), no imaginary cards, no players throwing things when subbed, no obligatory signing of failed Premier league players, no meaningless hand signals, no ''look how clever i am'' quotes (even though he''s a genius), no red nose, no knitted scarf, no ginger beard, no moaning about injuries, no airs, graces, arrogance, bitterness or gloating.Just a bloke who knows the game, knows a player, knows how to treat people, knows how to conduct himself and does it all in a simple yet brilliant way yet refuses to take any real credit for what he does. For all these reasons I love the bloke!
Yobocop 1,444 Posted February 17, 2012 The reason Lambert gets the respect from the players is because he respects every single one of them and the hard work and team ethics they put in. He isn''t like a Wenger or a Villas-Boas who think respect should be given to a manager regardless....Its a magical combination which has served us well in recent seasons and will continue to whilst Lambert is still around. Scottlarock 12 Posted February 17, 2012 ..he''s also a very funny geezer in a very Glaswegian way too, winding people up and teasing. If you haven''t seen them already search for '' The Paul Lambert Story'', it was a BBC Scotland documentary or the clip of the players dinner and presentations at the end of last season. Magic......or Gallus as PL may have said.
ABC (A Basingstoke Canary) 26 Posted February 17, 2012 HM - which is why he couldn''t be considered for one of the so called "big 6" clubs :1) No red nose - obligatory for Utd2) No knitted scarf - costume de rigueur accessory to the City nouveau riche3) No ginger beard - a must for chic soviet west london4) No moaning about injuries - pre-requisite for most5) No blaming refs for defeats - standard weapon in the armoury, without which will never make it to the top6) No airs, graces, arrogance, bitterness or gloating - oops, one forgets, Colin is no longer in the PL So, for just a bloke who knows the game, knows a player, knows how to treat people, knows how to conduct himself and does it all in a simple yet brilliant way yet refuses to take any real credit for what he does, it sounds like he and the patrons of the Fine City are made for each other [:D]
. 0 Posted February 17, 2012 He sees the media as the s**t stirring bunch of cretins they really are and gives them very little during interviews....Deeper than Loch Ness and just as mysterious....(Not meant to come across as in any way gay)
