canariesaregods 0 Posted January 21, 2012 This is a genuine question, not some poor attempt at banter. Was watching the canary classics highlights of norwich against chelsea, and couldnt help but notice the snakepit was fairly spartan whilst the city stand and barclay were full. Does anyone know why the snakepit was so empty ?
improper fraction 0 Posted January 21, 2012 Which season?Back when the Prem started we didn''t get such great crowds. You could roll up on the Saturday morning on a mtchday and get a ticket for Braclay Lower
Davo 0 Posted January 21, 2012 I remember going to matches in the early and mid 90''s and sitting in the lower Barclay where all the noise was. I don''t think there was such a thing as the snake pit then it was just part of the City Stand.Davo

grantroederdisaster 0 Posted January 21, 2012 Oringinally the Thorpe corner was only built in order to accomodate the police control room and tv/radio room. It certainly wasn''t built cause we needed the extra capacity at the time. Indeed until the Worthy revolution of the early 00''s, this part of the ground was rarely used by fans and the "snakepit" nickname didn''t come until crowds increased and many ex Barclay enders adopted this end and since then the "snakepit" legend has grown and in recent years most League games have been sold out in that area!
