quick ? im of to the hawthorns sat any advice as to best route due to the a14 roadworks.

Journey using the A14 is 2 hours and 53 minutes, queueing traffic is less than 3 km, max time in queue 10 to 15 minutes.

There isn''t a quicker route even with the queue time taken into account.

The A14 is still closed at Huntingdon over the weekends so you will have to divert off there anyway. They signpost the A428 to St Neots then up the A1 to the A14 at Brampton. Unfortunately all the numpties that ignore the closed signs come south to Caxton and that clogs everything up for those that continue on the A428 at the Caxton Gibbet roundabout. There is a cross country route if you turn off the 428 at Cambourne and follow the signs to Great Gransden. Then go through Gransden and Abbotsley to St Neots then find the A1 from there. It''s a little used and slightly winding route but beats sitting in a jam for a long time followed by nose to tail traffic!

Another way is follow the A47all the way across to Leicester then down to M6/M5 could be a bit of a treck though, Iused to go that way a lot when on the trucks

For the league game the A14 diversion was horrendous and added an hour and a half to the journey.However no diversion on the return journey.
