After he stuck his neck out for the chelsea game,and was rewarded for doing so, ''Lawro'' went back to being wrong wrong wrong for yesterday. He really has no idea. Is there any way of checking back through his predictions? I can''t believe he has got even a handful of correct results for our games.

Wouldn''t have it any other way mind - just shows that we are underestimated and makes life easier for us. And immensely satisfying to keep proving fool pundits wrong!

Why shouldn''t Lawro have predicted a WBA win?

They lost two weeks ago, but to be honest had a lot of the play, he obviously wrongly thought they would be really up for it, but nothing really changed from two weeks ago.

I really don''t see the issue with his prediction. He got it wrong, you can''t get every prediction right.

Don''t see anyone saying he has to have us down to win, but if his predictions had come true for us we''d have all- but been relegation certainties already! It is rather odd, this weekend''s game being a good example: ''this one is going to be close'' but then going for 2-0 to WBA when that comment + recent form suggest a draw being sensible prediction. I imagine it is not a lot more than laziness on his part.

Still long may it continue, if he starts to predict wins for us we might start to worry!

Like I said, I wouldn''t want it any different. Nor do I expect him to be right. What I''m suggesting is that he gets our games wrong more than most games.

It''s nothing against us. He gets most games wrong simply because he''s a jackass.  His Man U & Man City hit rate is quite good (shock!) but you''d get an equally accurate prediction for the rest of the games if you asked someone who knows nothing at all about football - such as Peter Grant.

Well GP, let that be a lesson to you and Lawro! The Wba game the other week was no fluke. We went there to let them have the ball, frustrate them and hit them on the break. So they''re meant to have a lot of the ball. They don''t score a lot at home so it was a good strategy. That worked. It''s easily a good enough reason to think we could do it again!

...and yet he thinks we''re going to lose, 2-0! Just goes to show all he really bases his predictions on are his perceptions of the team rather than any even vaguely informed knowledge and facts. Suppose that''s why he is more accurate with man u and citeh and Liverpool etc as his perceptions of them are more accurate having watched them for far longer than he has watched us.

A1 I would just bare in mind that Lawro has a very strict formula which he rarely deviates from.

1. Good Teams (and Liverpool) v Mid Table Side at Home (2-0). If away from home (2-1)

2. Good Teams (and Liverpool) v Bottom Teams at home (3-0 or 2-0). If away from home (3-1 or 2-1)

Given that WBA were favourites with the bookies it was hardly a surprise. I am sure the vast majority of neutrals would have pointed in the same direction.The fact that people moan so much about his predictions show that his column is being read, and if his column is being read then it will continue to be published. As per the post above me, from what I remember he has a pretty strict formula formula for picking results.

I didn''t say it was a fluke, or say that anything against what you said. I know that was our game plan, as it has been against other teams as well (such as Swansea at home)

Trent, no-one on this thread is moaning as far as I can tell - rather laughing. At his ineptitude when picking our results. And as someone has said, we should start worrying when he starts regularly picking us to win.

Either way, he generally goes for the safe options. I am sure 80% of his tips follow what the general consensus is, so to me it is no surprise. I am sure most neutrals would have picked us to go down at the start of the season, I am glad this time around (Unlike 2005) we are proving them wrong!

Apparently, though i can''t verify this, over the last two seasons that Lawro has done his predictions, if he''d been correct in every game, Liverpool would''ve won the Premier by a mile both times.

That''s what I needed! He has more of our results right than I expected but even then he still has us with 10 fewer points than we actually have. The most ''wronged'' clubs appear to be Newcastle, a full 17 points better off than he expects, Wolves the same number but in the other direction and Everton also 15 points worse off than he expects.

So us and Newcastle far better than he expects and Everton and Wolves far worse.

Other than that, he ain''t doing too bad!

I don''t understand why people get so bent out of shape about Mark Lawrenson''s predictions. That''s all they are... Predictions.

If people were able to predict football games with the level of accuracy that some people seem to expect, there''d be no bookies as they''d lose all their money.

Got to go for the cubs here. They all run around chasing after ball together and their 0-0-10 formation will be too much for a Norwich defence marshalled by some big bloke and it used to be Dave Watson didn''t it?

He made me laugh on the 5 live commentary for the liverpool man u match this weekend.

When asked, in about the 80th minute on what he saw happening, it was something along the lines of ''Well, there isn''t going to be a goal, but there will be a chance''.

It was said with such arrogance that he believed in some kind of pyschic powers. It just struck me funny at the time to think that it''s too much of a specific prediction to be making.

However, that said it made the late goal so much better hehe.
