Greeno, Penalties, and Goalkeeping Coach

Recommended Posts

I may be wrong, but i''m pretty certain Greeno has never saved a penalty whilst at Norwich. If you consider that he has played for 3 and a half seasons, and include the Play-off final, and Yakubu''s 3 efforts, I am pretty sure he has failed to stop around 20 penalties in his career. Most Keepers'' look at saving 1 in 4, so surely something is wrong somewhere,

Is it not the job of the Goalkeeping coach to advise the Keeper on individual players'' style, ie, in a one - on - one Rooney would more than likely slot it past the keeper, where as someone likely Bellamy would attempt to take it around the Keeper. Does anyone know if Greeno watches Penalty takers'' past efforts?? or is given advice on the most likely direction of the penalty??

Not all players always go the same way with penalties, so its very hard for the goalkeeper.  I like you am dissapointed with Greeno penalty record, but that said I would never critise Green.  I think the game against pompey is an interesting one because the third strike wasn''t the greatest and if greeno had on gone the right way he would have got it.

With all that said I don''t think you can blame the goalkeeper for not saving a penalty.  The penalty taker is always goin to be the favorite.

Yes, but you would think over the years he would have saved ONE! As soon as the opposition get a penalty you know they''re going to score. Rather ironic that the only one Green has saved is one he tried to let in...

Greeno needs to find out that fat get Paul Cooper''s secret.
I remember him appearing on Blue Peter in about 1980 after saving 8 of 10 penalties for the scum. He claimed he had a secret method - mind you, for some reason he never passed it on to subsequent scum keepers.

B in C I remember that on Blue Peter.

His "method" was to stand one step to.the left or the right of the centre of the goal, then dive to the side which appeared largest to the striker.

Pathetic lucky binner more like.

I said this on another thread but if RG stood still he would have more luck than he has had before.
