Lambert is obviously making it clear he wants some money...

Norwich City boss Paul Lambert is unsure if he can continue the club''s trend of unearthing talent from the lower leagues.

The Canaries sit ninth in the table despite the squad''s relative lack of Premier League experience.

"The lads we''ve got at the minute came from the lower leagues and the Championship, as everybody knows," Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"I''m just not sure how many are left out there to go and find."

He''s probably thinking that the board should be able to stump up a few more millions from the (£90 million?) that promotion to the Premiership brought to the club. Actually, if he is thinking that I would have to agree with him.

Yup, this is making me nervous. thats 3 times now Lambert has made it clear that the current squad “needs a hand” or that its “down to the club to get the players” in the last few days.

Has he had a disagreement with McNally over how ambitious we are in this transfer window. Did the missing out on Frimpong pee him off?

Lambert has kept his counsel on almost everything in the last 2 and a half years. I just hope that he is working the angle with the board, rather than voicing his displeasure with the reaction he got from the board when he presented his shortlist

No Mozza, it''s just that time of year when the January transfer window is opening and ALL managers get asked the same question from many different media sources, looking for an ''exclusive'', so it would appear that the answers appear more frequently.

As for Frimpong (substituted yesterday I believe), I am quite doubtful PL was ever in for him, after all he has ended up at Wolves, and who would choose them over us!

Or you are simply making up stuff, more likeas to this old tosh it doesn''t sound as if master hunt is too bright -"He''s probably thinking that the board should be able to stump up a few more millions from the (£90 million?) that promotion to the Premiership brought to the club"The £90m you squeak about is the £40m from TV coverage (and other sponsorship) plus £48m paid in parachute payments over 3 years - IF we are relegated.Lambert regularly meets with the board and will be aware what money is available.Likewise this board will regularly have it''s usual herberts who want to invent stuff to attract attention, it goes with the territory.

Lambert is simply doing his job - which is what you would expect.

He wants to strengthen the team and he''s pushing for as much money as he can get.  Just like a head of department at any business will tell the people above what budget he needs and then fights to get it.

Asking nicely sometimes isn''t enough.................................

If we dont back him theres something wrong. This is the best chance we''ve had in the last 10 years to do something bigWe have; The best up and coming managerA bunch of lads who would run through walls for the managerAmazing morale The usual loyal / passionate fanbase etc etcI think the board trusts Lambert 100% and my opinion is, in this transfer window he will be backed.Give him 10 million.

Is there then a former Norwich City manager with whom he hasn''t spoken? Willie Reid perhaps? George Swindin?[;)]

More seriously, the question is only partly how much money Lambert has been allocated in terms of transfer fees It is whether to attract the players he wants we would have to lumber ourselves with expensive contracts. That is what kills clubs.

Spending a bit of money on a couple of players shouldn''t be a problem.

The problems occur if we sign players on big wages & lengthy contracts and then get relegated.

The board will be looking at all the risks & rewards for May. They won''t put the club at risk by spending too much but obviously because of our start the probability of relegation has become less so a little more freedom, in theory is likely.

Many may disagree but the key to our success thus far this season, has been down to the hunger & work-rate of the players from lower leagues. At times I think there has been a lack of quality, particularly when controlling a game, its always frenetic (very British if you like).

I''m not sure you can find the type of player to calm a game down & marshall things in the lower echelons of English football.

Lambert''s words are not too far away from Worthyspeak! It would be interesting to get a quote from Bowkett or McNally to see if their words are much different to Munby and Doomcaster[:O]

McNally has already spoken, nutty. His plan involves us getting relegated this season, so I''m afraid the attitude is much more "little Norwich" than ever it was with Munby and Doncaster, who were beacons of ambitious optimism by comparison.[:P][:D][;)]

Yes, PC, unfortunately that''s the way football has gone, but these expensive contracts have to be offered in order to strive and even thrive for a sustained period in the Premier -- ask the likes of Stoke, Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan.Failure to spend the necessary is not an option -- ask the likes of Blackpool, Hull and Burnley - the former ''aint dead & buried and Norwich would easily survive in the Second Division, but as a supporter of the club for over 40 years I personally aspire to top-flight status for the club - the fan-base here demands it.

Sadly this thread will no doubt degenerate into a rallying point for the ''friends of the binners'' and the slow witted (not mutually exclusive) to have yet another go at the club. The picture will be painted of a wicked board sitting on a pirates chest full of gold coins whilst the poor horphan Lambert is made to climb chimneys to earn a few farthings to run the team. This will be further added by questions on the club''s hambition and demands that the club must back the manager. We have been here so many times. Those with an IQ in double figures and a postcode that doesn''t start with IP will be aware that the board knows what is needed. Has demonstrated that it is and has been doing it''s utmost to find the funds to improve the squad - but when it comes down to it money can only be spend that comes into the club first. There are limits so unless any of the ''hard done'' by whingers are prepared to stump up a bit out of their own pocket they should button it. And in the spirit of pantomime spend a bit more time shouting "we''re behind you" rather than endlessly booing and hissing at some conjured up villian.

IMO with PL being a canny Scotsman he is playing down the amount of money he has to spend so we don''t get ripped off by Clubs asking for more money than their player is worth as normally happens in the January window.
