Ralph "Ginger" Johnson in 1946 and Keith O''neill in 1977 are both credited with scoring in 10 seconds.

Sad I know[8-|]

What was Ralph Johnson like then Nutty? More of a Morison than a Holt? Or a goal hanger like McDougall? [;)]

excellent find yellow blood

do like the bit

“One day I ran into a player in the centre of the pitch and then ran down the wing with the ball only to get hit by a woman with an umbrella who told me I had hit her little Willie"

Indeed that''s a terrific find yellow blood. I really enjoyed that[Y] That 10 second goal must have made a lasting impression on Orient because they signed him later that season.

Kathy - As if I''d remember but you could ask Lapp who I think went to school with his Mum. [H]

The quickest goal to be scored at Carrow Road was actually scored by a Hoveton player after 7 seconds against Fakenham Town in the Norfolk Senior Cup of 1973.

He hammered 123 goals in just 107 matches and that included five hat-tricks, two hauls of four, two fives and two double hat-tricks. He once scored in 19 successive Norwich City games and in another spell found the net in 24 out of 25 matches. He still holds the record for the fastest ever goal at Carrow Road – 10 seconds against Leyton Orient in 1946.

All those children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great neices and nephews now have their proud family record shattered through the Pink un message board. Surely only a Shyster would do such a thing.

But wait!! Maybe not........

“I tapped the ball to Noel Kinsey and he played it back to me and I hit it from close to the halfway line. It could have gone into the river or the stands but on this occasion it did a Beckham and sailed into the net. My mother was there and thought it had been a false start when Orient kicked off,” Ralph said.

Was it slow motion? Or did the ball trickle so slowly into the net that it took a full 8 or 9 seconds to reach the target? No! I reckon the grandfather clock that was used to time the goal only registered 10 second intervals.

Well done Ralph, maybe your record stands after all[Y]

Sorry. Invalid analysis.

I mean we could speculate about the Hoveton player in the same way.

But you could try again.................I guess. Not forgetting the bruvvers this time though.

Nothing better than a full old time breakfast all fried in pork dripping.

Yummy, yummy, yummy are the only suitable words................

My granny used to keep the dripping in the ''safe'' outside before she had a fridge.

Poor old Ginger! What did he ever do to you to make you so keen to take his record from him. He was even the Cody Mac of his day when he replaced Fred Hall in goal for half an hour.

Fred, who was signed from Hellesdon Hospital, went on to play 90 times for the City which bears out the old saying about being mad to be a goalkeeper. He probably kept his dripping in a safe too.....
