apart from standing aside and ushering there goal into the net he was fantastic :D

What game were you watching? Or did you even watch the game? When called upon he was fantastic, a superb save at 0-0 and got a vital touch on another to send it along the base line. Also some good catches and went bravely in at the end. He was superb tonight!

Didn''t realise how important hs save from Bendtner was after Johnson fluffed his clearance, until I watched it back on Sky. Top top save!
Only a matter of time now imo until he is in the England squad. And whoever said he just stood there for their goal have a look and see it as you probably have not yet.
Yeah Gary Neville... watch it again ;)

I assume you''re suggesting he didn''t just stand there? I saw it last night and he didn''t seem to move then, and I''ve just watched it again now and he still doesn''t seem to move. On the face of it he does actually just stand there. Perhaps he is moving too fast for the eye to see...[;)]

PS. I''m not, of course, necessarily saying he should have saved it. It was an unexpected, well-struck shot, and there was the chance of a deflection from Barnett that might have put him off, but he does seem to have a decent sight of it all the way. It is is a fact that he did just stand there. There was no attempt to save, for whatever reason.

Too true, that shot was going in, he did really well there. add that to his great save last week at the death and you could argue he''s been the difference between 2 and 6 points. More than makes up for losing us one verses Chelsea.

As a Ruddy fan throughout I''m delighted to see how confident he looks this season and how people are now starting to realise that there is life after FF. Maybe we''ll even have PC on board by Christmas.......[;)][:D][:D]

Beau, I make it a rule to be spectacularly wrong[:$] about one thing per season, but Chateau PurpleCanary[ip] will run out of Champagne[<:o)] before I admit this to be my annual misjudgment. I still think what I''ve thought all along, that Ruddy is quite bad enough to play for England...[;)][:P][;)]

PC, much as it ill behoves me to take on a man with such a comprehensive knowledge of the Mongolian Intermediary League Division Three [;)] I think he''s going to be one of our goalkeeping greats in time. Of course, I will deny this post should I be proven wrong, having used a well known acronym to ensure that it''s deleted! [:P][:D]

As with all players who Lambert brings in he is very strong mentally. He makes mistakes, like all players, but it appears to me he leaves those mistakes where they were made. In contrast to Greeno who is probably a better goalkeeper but who in my view carries his mistakes into subsequent games.

Based on my expert knowledge I wouldn''t say Ruddy was quite ready for that high a standard of Mongolian football yet, Beau...[;)]

Beau, the serious answer is as follows. I would currently rate Ruddy around equal 7th of those I have seen.

Woods was the best all-round keeper. Good ball-handling, decision-making, positional sense. He later became mistake-prone for England because he was playing behind a useless defence. But for Norwich he was very reliable.

Keelan the best shot-stopper by whatever a country mile is. But positionally not the best, and capable of game-losing basic mistakes. I wouldn''t like to separate Woods and Keelan in terms of my dream team.

Gunn is in third place. An all-rounder like Woods, although perhaps capable of more agile saves. A performance against Millwall stands out. Also a keeper for the modern era. He played a bit of outfield football, and was perfect for the role of keeper as sweeper, and for the no back pass rule.

Green is below Gunn because of some really basic errors. But positionally sound.

Marshall (Andy, not that useless Scottish one) is equal fifth. On his day second only to Keelan as a shot-stopper. With him Fraser Forster. I know, I know. Positionally flawed sometimes, and not as dominant as someone his size should be. Too wedded to the goal-line. But a good shot-stopper.

Ruddy currently stands level with or perhaps slightly ahead of Kennon in my estimation. Ruddy is a decent shot-stopper, although not in Keelan''s or Marshall''s class, or indeed Forster''s. But his judgment is only average and his positional sense (THE most important element in keeping) has been sub-standard. He sometimes (based on a study of last season''s goals conceded) simply isn''t in the right position to be able to make a save. I don''t believe that is an insuperable problem. It can be worked on (and perhaps it already has been) by whoever is now our goalkeeping coach. Still Jeff Wood? We just seem to have gone through a few in recent years.

He actually started the Sunderland game a bit nervous and you could see that in 2 or 3 of his kicks.

However, despite not having much to do, overall he had a good game.

Good to see Ruddy getting some praise, thought he showed potential last season but I''m surprised at just how much more confident he is looking.

The better he plays, the more confident the defence will be, which can only be a good thing.

Also, in the Euros capello could bring him off the bench if (when) England end up in a penalty shootout..

Why don''t you apply to be the next one. If you were ever to go on Mastermind, it would surely be your specialist subject.

I think we''ve found PC''s achilles heel here, used to being right all the time (which he usually is!!) perhaps having taken a stand on this he has found it impossible to admit fallibilty

Hard hat on!
