smug season ticket holders

Recommended Posts

sat in the barclay tonight and there was a group of lads in the top corner of e block who were making a bit of noise and genrally enjoying themselves not doing anyone any harm... i couldn''t believe the negative comments they were getting off  supporters  who clearly thought they were better..one bloke behind me even shouted "if you don''t come every week then shut up" perhaps they can''t afford to come every week they were all of student age.. at least these lads made an effort which is more than the team did , maybe they were a bit annoying maybe they don''t come every week but they had norwich shirts on and knew all the songs so they haven''t just  turned up out of nowhere... its come to something when you can''t let off a bit of steam in the barclay end we were all young once [;)]

That is disappointing - particularly if they were trying to get behind the team.  As a Season Ticket holder in the Lower Barclay I know how difficult it is for me to get tickets for my daughter and matches like this one are the only ones that I can get tickets for her and her friends.  They enjoyed themselves last night despite the efforts on the pitch and particularly enjoyed the lads doing the conga at the end of the game which they forced us to copy on our way out!  If you put off the youngsters then what future is there for the Club?

Exactly. Really gets on my goat this if-you''re-not-a-season-ticket-holder-you''re-not-a-proper-fan mentality. Of the 13k last night, I bet half were dirty casuals meaning about 16k season ticket holders couldn''t be bothered to shell out a tenner to watch a competitive Norwich game last night

One of my mates (not a Norwich fan, I hasten to add) actually had 50p on 4-0 MK Dons at 130/1. There were 12 of us in total - mostly ''dirty casuals'' plus myself and another couple of season ticket holders - and I did warn everyone before the match that we would lose. I''ve taken a whole load of abuse from my ''mates'' over the performance (all good-natured, of course), but I couldn''t really care less as long as we''re up for it on Saturday.

No doubt he was a season ticket holder and no doubt a few are smug but as one season ticket holder I hope he reads this thread and finds out how much he has let real fans of the club down with his pompous comments, that he is an anachronism and a t0sser.

I''m a pretty regular fan, and come back when I can from Uni share a season ticket, so not a bad fan, get to as many as I can really. So I decided to go with some casual fans, and a couple who support QPR last night but reside in Norfolk, all in all 7 of us. The casual who bought the tickets decide to put us in E Block, row L right against the wall. Not that I have a particular problem with sitting there, but we were sandwiched between two rows of reasonably loud fans, and I know all the chants I couldn''t really hear what they were like at the back, but some of these didn''t have a clue.

I''m all for getting more money into the coffers, disregarding who turns up, and the more fans the better in my opinion. However, they were at Carra'' to cause problems more than just create an atmosphere, constantly looking over at the away fans trying to incite some trouble and as one Asian Man descended to speak to the stewards at the bottom I heard

"Get back to your Corner Shop..."

and

"Where''s your elephant...."

Which I think is ridiculous, in all the time I''ve been going to watch Norwich, I have never heard such blatant racism. I was shocked.

As I said all for casual fans, but when they''re just trying to incite trouble....they can stay at home in their burberry caps. W**kers.

I totally agree with this post that if you are not a season ticket holder you are not a proper fan, anyone can purchase a season ticket at any time and instantly believe they are the most loyal fan it f**cks me off!!!

I have a 5 week old daughter and can afford a potentially 80- 100 quid day every month let alone every week!!!

Going to see the City is a real treat and I have to put up with internet stream or sky to watch them.

I even think people that post on here look down on some other people on this forum and it comes down to your opinion is not worthy as mine I go every week attitude!!

I used to go quite a bit last season and every season back to I can remember into the 90s.

I have been to Luton on a tuesday night and see us get beaten 4 - 0 I have been to Leeds away etc

So I concur with your post and people need to get a bit real sometimes!!

Agreed, this really annoys me, as a lifelong city fan and season ticket holder for the last 2 seasons, although not this year, I feel like I should hide my ''casual'' ticket when going in the stadium like its a a porn mag or a scum programme lest I draw the attention of so called ''real fans''. Last night I sat in the lower Barclay behind two such fans who were moaning about the part timers etc etc. I personally thought it was great to see families with small children able to attend and sit there when perhaps they couldn''t normally afford to. Oh and as for the two ''real fans'' guess who were 5 minutes late back from the bar and left on 80 minutes! Pathetic. We''re all Norwich fans for goodness sake.

Yes, this is the "Real worrying thing" not just about last night, this morning, every week on here. The number of supposed "Real" fans who think they are the only ones entitled to an opinion on anything because they have.... a season ticket...

Signed,

A Season Ticket Holder, embarrassed by some of the red neck attitudes. Lets the whole club down.

not meant to be insulting, actually more of a rehtorical question as I already know the answer....but.....

Do you think the vast over reaction to this cup exit has nothing to do with the fact that we lost to MK Dons and everything to do with the fact that for a lot of "casual fans" this was maybe one of the only chances some will get to see City this season and feel cheated by the result / performance ?Again just an observation. And frankly I feel sorry for you if thats the case as I remember the days of being a casual how angry I was when we lost as I knew I wouldnt see city again for 6 months.Feel that the club has developed an ethos of Season Ticket > Casual which probably has rubbed off on the fans. That said football is not a sport anymore and its a business.

Then good for you Coelho - and I don''t mean this sarcastically. Obviously I don''t include all season ticket holders in my remarks. Oh and I myself am a ''dirty casual''; I was just using the expression ironically

I had my first season ticket back in the 80''s but gave it up when due to work I had to relocate to the North West and had to rely on casual tickets for when I could get down.

I returned to Norfolk and got a season ticket when we were in League 1 so I''ve been on both sides of the fence and can honestly say I have never noticed season ticket holders being smug or looking down on non casual fans, if I had0 heard what the op heard last night I would have stuck up for the lads, I''m not one to keep quiet when I don''t agree with something

Lol. More like a training session.I agree with you though, plus they could have been season ticket holders, how the hell would they know? If you buy a casual ticket for a cup game, then why the hell would you sit in your exact same seat? You would try somewhere new wouldn''t you? They might not have been able to get Barclay season tickets but would have chosen to sit there if they could. In my opinion if there is a seat empty then anybody should be made fully welcome to come and fill it. I just hope whoever sat on my seat didn''t fart on it too much, didn''t stand up on it and leave filthy footprint marks, or worse still wasn''t 22 stone and snapped or bent it! :P

W**kers.[/quote]Don''t ever sit in the snakepit then, unless you want to experience fans like that every match. The fact that they are all middle aged men with decent jobs, wives, and kids, makes it all that much worse. The last time I sat in there the three blokes behind made monkey chants and tried to pick a fight with a fellow fan. Retards. Was a few years ago mind, might be better now, hopefully those three have been banned by now.  I was a casual fan for a few years before getting a season ticket again when McNally came on board and Rodent had gone. To be honest, suspect I spent more per season on footy THEN then I do now as a season ticket holder. Think I would manage about 15 games a year, and I worked out that I spent MORE on tickets than these apparently superior fans who actually get their football heavily subsidised and are suitably rewarded for their commitment or loyalty without needing to resort to some sort of delusions of granduer or elitism. I''d hate to be a casual fan in that area of the Jarrold stand with stupid cushions on their seats, should imagine it is terrible there "oooohh... look at the paupers who have to put up with their hard seats, this cushion is perfect for my piles". The worst place that I have sat as a stranger is in the Barclay lower (A block), I borrowed a mates season ticket for 5 games one year a while back whilst he went to Thailand for 6 weeks. I then lent my season ticket, in the Riverend, to a family friend who was too skint to buy a ticket at the time (wouldn''t do that now!). It was like walking into a small village pub in a part of the world which still has to use dial-up internet, everybody looks at you like a freak, grunt at you when you ask to get past, don''t give you the time of the day, and worst of all..... there was an elderly lady who gave everybody on her row, everybody on the row in front, and everybody in the row behind, a sweet. As the only non-regular, and thus inferior, I didn''t get offered one of course. I found out that the seat on one side of me this year is a seat which is for general sale. I''m going to make a special effort to have a little chat with whoever sits there each game, to make them feel comfortable and welcome, as long as they get there to their seat 5-10 minutes before kick off like me and don''t say stupid things like "Hoolahan is too small" in which case I will make sure their experience is a miserable one and they never pick that row again!!!
