swjf50 0 Posted August 11, 2011 RUDDYMARTIN (if fit) DE LAIT BARNETT TIERNEY FOXBENNETT JOHNSON HOOLAHAN HOLT JACKSONSubs Rudd, Whitbread, Naughton, Crofts, Smith or C Martin, Pilkington, MorisonMartin is a slight doubt, if he''s not fit Naughton will start. Likewise Crofts isn''t 100% so I''ve left him out. The only other possibility would be whether Whitbread plays instead of Barnett. However I''m only guessing and I could be totally wrong. alysha 0 Posted August 11, 2011 Agree with that, but you''ve missed out Surman, unless injured he will be on the Bench at least.
swjf50 0 Posted August 11, 2011 I forgot to include Surman ! He could start in place of Bennett and move Bennett to the bench in place of K Smith/C Martin.

alysha 0 Posted August 11, 2011 I don''t think Surman will play on the right wing instead of Bennett, if he does play it will be on the left.

Robert N. LiM 4,004 Posted August 11, 2011 no one going for the 4-5-1 that PL''s been trying in pre-season?

Tetteys Jig 830 Posted August 11, 2011 I like the look of that, but i''d rather a more positive start, we drew too many games last time we went up, would rather try and win against the wigans of this league, even if half the time we lose by gambling like this. Roll on saturday, its going to be a great day and atmosphere !! Otbc :)

San Miguel 0 Posted August 12, 2011 i think Tierney will start instead of Naughton but they''ll all get their chancealso think Surman''s goals v Parma will mean he gets the start on the left of midfield - not sure if he''ll go for the diamond or 4-5-1 tho, could go either waythey all can see how many options we have as clearly as we the fans can and that''s got to spur them on to have a great game every game (not that playing in the PL wouldn''t do that anyway)can''t wait! Tetteys Jig 830 Posted August 12, 2011 How about: Ruddy BarnettMartin Bennett Fox Johnson Crofts Surman Pilkington Naughton Holt
York Canary 28 Posted August 12, 2011 Without Crofts and Johnson the midfield would look very lightweight to me. Fox is not a real defensive midfielder/tackler, but more of a Pirlo-style passer from deep and the 2 attacking wingers would leave us open at times. For me, Johnson or Crofts must play to make the middle more solid
