Relegation Mini-League

Of course, there''s always the possibility that we will beat Everton next week. This would leave Norwich 6 points clear of Everton. What will you do with Everton then Canton, re-insert them into your mini-league? If not, how about removing Norwich also at that point? [:D]

[/quote]

Canton''sHero, as you have not answered my two questions the allow me to ask you another one. Is it more important to you for Norwich to win against Everton or would you rather your predictions have more weight and hope that we don''t win, thereby avoiding the dilemma of answering the questions I posed. If, as I hope, you would rather that Norwich would win, then why won''t you answer the previous questions I posed to you, preferably before the match thus demonstrating our club''s performance as being more important than your own?

I''d love to see Norwich to beat Everton and I will be watching the game this weekend in the hope that they do so.

Norwich will stay in this league until the end. For me, the league shows not only that we''re doing extremely well, but it has a good discussion point on the teams who are struggling.

Will I put Everton back in? Maybe; maybe I was rash to take them out in the first place, but no-one seemed to state they thought it was a mistake. I still think they''ll be safe. I''d imagine there''s a few teams we''re 6 points clear of that will survive and some might even beat us.

Well, I must be "no-one" then as I clearly questioned your logic for removing them from your mini-league as well as your evaluation of them not once, but twice, pointing out to you that when you stated ( incorrectly ) that they were beating everyone this simply was not the case

On your last point I think it''s highly unlikely that "quite a few" teams that we''re 6 points clear of will survive as the only teams we are 6 points clear of are the bottom three teams. If you''re referring to those three surviving then I suppose you could class them as "quite a few", although I doubt many would agree with the view that all three of them would survive. Naturally, we may suffer a defeat or two against them just as Newcastle just did against us.

Anyway, while I won''t question your tables, I will continue to question your assumptions from time to time should I see you getting off track.

I think what you are forgetting Mr Hiriam J Canary jnr III is the undoubted accuracy in the prophecys that underpins this masterpiece of tedious futilityWhy, we''ve had such insights as ......." I am positive it is going to be 3 from Norwich, Swansea, QPR, Wigan and Blackburn""I''ve been to 12 away games in a row where we have not been beaten. Man U will be the 13th.

I fully expect us to get something from Old Trafford""suggest these three are early strugglers not Bolton"

Sadly this nonsense is no more than the same sort of guff put out by so called mediums to the dull witted"Is there anybody here called John, or who has a relative called John ............ or maybe knows someone who is called John........................ who may have known someone, who may have passed on ... possibly ?

1.00 Blackburn Rovers (7/7)

0.86 Bolton Wanderers (6/7)

0.71 QPR (5/7)

Norwich finish this weekend in the top half of the table no matter what happens tomorrow, and will also be 7 points clear of the relegation zone. A shame Wigan got a point today but with ManU, Arsenal and Stoke away in their next three games suggest that we can stretch that gap with points against Wolves, Spurs and Fulham. A ten point gap at New Year looks very plausible.

Would beg the question, would we need this? I did say any team who gets ten points clear of the zone would be removed.... Would make a few people quite happy.

Blackburn and Bolton still in a lot of trouble, with Wigan and QPR the only other teams in the three zones, and with a tough game against ManU tomorrow, and Arsenal coming up, they could be in trouble too.

If you are intent on continuing this, as you appear to be, then Aston Villa and Everton should be added back in.Villa are 10th and can''t buy a goal without Agbonlahor and Bent.Everton are 14th and can''t buy a goal either. This would mean your mini league is 9th-20th, but that may be about right.

2.00 Norwich City

QPR are in trouble. Their ratio against teams at the bottom end of the table is dreadful, and while that does mean they''ve picked up 11 points from 9 games elsewhere, quite a few of them were at the beginning of the season after their haul of newbies came in.

Well done Wigan; another good point, but annoyingly for us it means that the Norwich - relegation gap is 7 points. What is great is this next fact.

The likely Europa League position is 7th (barring annoying cup wins for lowly teams) - Norwich are closer to this position than they are to the relegation zone, as Newcastle are just 6 points clear of them.

Maybe I need a Europa League Mini-League.

Mini-League Fixtures

(MON)

Chelsea vs. Fulham

Arsenal vs. Wolves

Bolton vs. Newcastle

Liverpool vs. Blackburn

Man Utd. vs Wigan

Sunderland vs. Everton

WBA vs. Man City

Look at those fixtures!! Apart from Sunderland vs. Everton they all look extremely good fixtures for us.

(TUE)

Swansea vs. QPR

Norwich vs. Tottenham

Blackburn, Swansea and Wigan today''s big winners in the mini-league, but importantly the gap to the relegation zone is still 7 points!!!

Same old story with one team less. Will add a team into the league if they drop to within 5 points of the zone. Will remove a team if they move 10 points away.

Villa will probably be next in I would imagine with fixtures against Everton and Wolves coming up.

Always worth taking a close look at goal difference, which in effect puts us 11pts clear. Can''t believe the amount of detail people have gone into here with averages / indices / indexes etc.  It''s all irrelevant.  The only stat that matters is how far clear we are from 3rd bottom.  Keep it simple !

Now we''re out of this "relegation mini league" maybe we can concentrate on chasing the teams above us rather than being scared of those below us. Can''t believe fans wanted to Villa claw back Swansea. Villa losing put us above them.

1.22 Wigan Athletic (11/9)

1.00 Blackburn Rovers (9/9)

0.68 QPR (6/8)

Bolton look like a struggling team, but they do have a whopping 6 home games against the bottom half teams. Can that help?

Oh yes!!

Potentially 3 games from Europe[Y]

But we should have a European Qualification Mini League in case we have to get there via the league[;)]

"can see wolves having a good season personally....but would throw newcastle and

even fulham in there""I cannot see either Wolves or WBA struggling this season but would add Newcastle to the mix""I can see Everton, Fulham and Villa all being down there personally.

"I strongly think Sunderland will be in the mix ""Dont think QPR will be bottom 5, does anyone else?"

however not all were so halfwitted - and best summed up by"What a complete pile of hairy bol*cks."

however my favourite was -"Saying that we wont be involved in a battle to stay up is pure madness!"

City1st - loving life, high on pure madness
