Mister Chops 7 Posted July 24, 2011 Sounds like as a useful exercise it was only slightly better than playing a team of parking cones, but I wouldn''t dream of questioning anything Paul Lambert does so hurrah!
birchfest 397 Posted July 24, 2011 Score and opposition at this point is irrelevant, what is important is the team and the new players getting a feel for how each other move and play, as well as just minutes spent running on a football pitch. It served its purpose of suplimenting the training in Germany, but we all knoe the real pre-season matches start next week with the Championship teams looking to impress against a Premire league side. chicken 0 Posted July 24, 2011 The biggest thing about pre season at this level is getting the squad as far away from the press and pressure of home as is reasonable.Putting them away means the club can do transfer business and the players know little of it. It also means they are out there alone which gives them more time to develop as a team - make the new players feel welcome and part of the team.On top of that there is the fitness. But if it was fitness alone you could do it at home. But it''s not. It''s stuff you want to do away from prying eyes and in a more controllable atmosphere. Bruce Eats Walkers! 0 Posted July 24, 2011 And nearly everyone has hit the back of the net, a goal is a goal and the confidence it creates cannot be gained on the training ground
