OT...Loans - would they work?

Recommended Posts

The expected signing Richie De Laet raised a point below from a poster.

"What would these super rich, mega clubs do if lower clubs (like us) stopped loaning players? Who would give them the exposure they crave to increase their performance and value? Perhaps they would have to release a few and then all other clubs would benefit''''

Could this system work in ordinary jobs to boost job prospects in rural areas?

- A top accountant firm hire a new graduate. The local graduate has no field experience but has the raw talent and knowledge. The top accountant firm ''loan'' the graduate to a smaller, local firm for 2 years. The graduate gets real experience, the local firm benefits from a highly educated person and the top accountant firm have a skilled and experienced graduate two years later.

The loaned employee, who would presumably be quite inexperienced and new to the rigours and needs of a smaller company, would become part of a closer knit team where his input and contribution would be of far greater value than being one of many in the larger organisation.

The smaller firm would come to depend upon his input and rely upon his empoyment which would bring continuity to that company.

He would, presumably, need much training as, although he is highly educated, there is nothing that can compensate for hands on experience.

So after the smaller firm has given him the necessary traing and made him an intregal part of the company the larger firm comes along and says "Thanks for looking after after our employee, for training him, for giving him experience in the world of business, for showing him the benefits of being part of a team, for allowing him to grow in confidence by giving him responsibility but we have monitored his progress and think we would like him back now"

No ..... it would not work in business, only in football.

But if they got him for a fraction of the wages he would otherwise be on then the small company would benefit greatly from the arrangement - they might otherwise not be able to afford to employ someone at all.
