flecky76 0 Posted June 16, 2011 I don''t know if this has been covered previously, but one thing about the fixtures being released tomorrow is to look out for when we are due to play the big 4, being those who have qualified for the Champions League (well, Arsenal technically still have to play-off to qualify for the group stage). The same also applies to the UEFA Cup qualifiers - Spurs and Fulham(?).Firstly, if we are due to play any of these teams the weekend AFTER their midweek European fixtures, these matches will usually be forwarded to the Sunday (not necessarily on TV), though the possible exception could be Champs Lge Tuesday fixtures, as they already have extra day rest.Don''t forget the UEFA Cup games are on Thursdays. What I''m getting onto say is that by playing these fixtures the weekend AFTER their midweek European fixtures, teams will have a FAR better chance of getting a decent result against them. For example, playing Man Utd after they have just played away in Moscow for example, will usually see them field the likes of Thomas Kuscak, Darron Gibson etc etc... of course it doesn''t guarantee anything but it gives teams a definate advantage - the stats are there every season which shows those teams in Europe fail far more often when next back on league duty just a few days later.Champs League dates for the coming season are as below. Will be interesting to see if we have any advantage come tomorrow morning...Play-off Play-off round 5 August 2011 16–17 August 2011 23–24 August 2011 Group stage Matchday 1 25 August 2011(Monaco) 13–14 September 2011 Matchday 2 27–28 September 2011 Matchday 3 18–19 October 2011 Matchday 4 1–2 November 2011 Matchday 5 22–23 November 2011 Matchday 6 6–7 December 2011 Knockout phase Round of 16 16 December 2011 14–15 & 21–22 February 2012 6–7 & 13–14 March 2012 Quarter-finals 16 March 2012 27–28 March 2012 3–4 April 2012 Semi-finals 17–18 April 2012 24–25 April 2012 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2%80%9312_UEFA_Champions_League

You are right the CL clubs never look the same immediately before or after a midweek fixture, especially Man Utd.
