LinkNR9 0 Posted January 10, 2005 Can anyone tell me what it is, as he''s disappeared from view over the past couple of weeks? Is he injured? Has he had a fall out with Worthy? Not too long ago, he was scoring for us against Man U and looking OK in this League; now, when we''re desperate for any player to pull on a yellow shirt, he''s not even on the radar. What is going on? Does anyone have any idea??!!
Branston Pickle 4,149 Posted January 10, 2005 No idea at all - he did look somewhat anonymous when he came on v Spurs, but to have been left out completely since does seem particualrly odd; he apparently doesn''t have an injury (some people reckon to have seen him and he confirmed this) and everyone seems to have stepped above him in the pecking order, so I doubt he is happy! It is all rather strange - even a fallout with Worthy seems unlikely, as surely there would have been some gossip to that effect somewhere. Maybe there is something afoot involving him moving - though quite where only time would tell (Martin O''Neill was always said to be interested, but that is surely not it?!) - I have to confess that I thought he was going to form part of the Ashton fee, but even that now seems to be wrong!!!! rainbow 0 Posted January 10, 2005 the rumours are that he was offered to crewe as part of the ashton deal but after visiting the club he has decided to stay with us and play for his place or wait for a better club to come after him
el chorizo!!! 0 Posted January 10, 2005 I don´t wish to appear a doom merchant, but it would appear that he may well be on his way! Hopefully this will be to the advantage of the club though - and good luck to the lad!
Herb 0 Posted January 10, 2005 Does all seem to point to a possible move. I suppose if we could get a few quid for him it wouldn''t be bad business once we''re back to full strength, but I think hes got a lot of potential at this level.
Big Rob 0 Posted January 10, 2005 Surely hes too small to get picked up by radar! He is one of the party boys at the club who has probably felt the wrath of Worthy over the christmas period. I guess he may be back for pre season.
Rasputin was a C... 0 Posted January 10, 2005 Unfortunately I just don''t think McVeigh has the physical pressence for this league which is a shame after he stopped his international career for us. It''s just when ever he''s been brought on he''s not really done anything special. I really hope that his form improves and he again becomes a key member of the team, it''s just I don''t feel that this will happen in this league.
Tilt 12 Posted January 11, 2005 I think he deserves more of a chance - he had one proper run out and scored a great goal...There''s plenty more there I feel. Perhaps he just needs some confidence?
ZLF 335 Posted January 11, 2005 McVeigh has ALWAYS been one of Worthys first scapegoats for any defeat and has clashed with him perhaps once too often following thge spurs game.I agree with the comments that Paul is not quite up to the prem; his ability is not consistent enough and he is too small. However he is a very good squad player (his best performances have come from the bench - he sparkled as recently as the Bolton game) and given our current injury crisis it is baffling that he is fit yet cant even make the bench. To me he is a far superior player to Brennan yet one plays while the other disappears.Maybe there is something in the Celtic/transfer links, but it clearly is not with Crewe, or is there a ''ave it'' type incident in the background for which he is doing his time?OTBC
Tufnell Park Canary 0 Posted January 11, 2005 McVeigh is not too small (owen, keegan, maradona - all midgets). He is however, too fat for the premier league.:
AJ 1,358 Posted January 11, 2005 What about phil mulryne then?
First Wizard 0 Posted January 11, 2005
McVeigh has ALWAYS been one of Worthys first scapegoats for any defeat and has clashed with him perhaps once too often following thge spurs game.I agree with the comments that Paul is not quite up to ...
I''m afraid Zipper, that I aren''t too bothered either way about WLYP. I''m afraid his day''s at the club may well be numbered in weeks. And he was one of my ''four player''s can''t cut the mustard'' thread, remember?.
ZLF 335 Posted January 11, 2005 I am with you on that Wiz - on that same thread I think I supported what you said, adding that I thought that there were more than 4 who could not play at this level. My concern is that with a squad so hit by midfield injuries that to chose not to pick an experienced pro, even on the bench does seem odd. While he is not up to it he is better than Brennan who is making the 16.I would not be disappointed to see Paul move on, it is probably best for his career especially if we stay up, but each sat I want to see the best 16 players chosen for the squad, given the current injuries he easily fits that criteria.OTBC
