Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted June 23, 2011 For the most part our squad is made up of younger players from below the premier league. The have been purchased for a modest price by premiership standards. If as i hope and expect we settle down and start getting some results the book value of this squad could explode. This could bring its own challenges in terms of bigger clubs wanting our better players but there again even when we were a settle top flight club we had a reputation for bringing young and lower league players through and selling them at a handy profit
Norfolk Mustard 94 Posted June 23, 2011 Providing PL gets the team firing on all cylinders the value of each player will increase dramatically. Should they leave, their stock carries the endorsement of ‘having the Lambert winning mentality’ – cite Matt Gill’s comments going to Bristol Rovers – it really helps them get another job! Take Grant Holt; £170,000 transfer from Forest to Shrewsbury. £450,000 to Norwich. Shoots us to League One title, then auto promotion to the Premiership. Whatever he was worth last season can probably be doubled or tripled already! Whatever would Russell Martin, Fox or Croft fetch now? The list goes on – s’good innit? urdie_Canary 33 Posted June 23, 2011 Imagine if James Vaughan bagged 10-15 goals next season. The going rate for a young english player is crazy, could be a 10 million plus player.
