My Weekly Monday Cryptic Riddle #2

Recommended Posts

Is is something to do with temporary stands or seating or building work?

Didn''t Arsenal have that mural up when we went there in ''92?

And Fulham had those temporary seats behind the goal at the Putney tube end.

Pompey are always tinkering with their ground...?

I did think of alliteration as well;

Goldstone Ground...Craven Cottage...Highbury (Hill)...then realised I was clutching at straws.

Are we correct with Palace for the 2011 friendly? Could be Gorleston or Sarfend or Cov.

Brain hurts now...going to bed.

If it''s venues, then based on the various clues the list has grown to the Goldstone Ground, Craven Cottage, Selhurst Park, Griffin Park, Highbury, Fratton Park, Wembley (old version), the Munich Olympic Stadium and Brisbane Road! NC1 deserves the chance to set the next cryptic question for working out the link between all nine.

Quick clarification/recap

Selhurst Park can be ignored as purist might dispute it

Brisbane Road is one of geography

All others are football grounds of City triumphs/tragedies linked by ....

(over to you NC1)

Ah, if those are the grounds then I think a light has finally dawned with me too.

Hmmmnnnn....

Not sure about the Munich Stadium but the story in the news about the GB Olympic team row has jogged my memory about Griffin Park and The Goldstone being used after the war for the Olympics.

But that doesn''t fit the clue about Orient either...

Grrr.

Those are the two names I came up with. I did think Zidane initially but he was still at Juve in 98
