curnster 0 Posted June 29, 2011 Is anyone else getting tired of football''s Del Boy? He''s failed as both a Manager and a Chairman at Peterborough, yet he hangs around like a bad smell, poking his nose into transfers and generally doing nothing other than adding his rotund mockney nuisance value to proceedings. Most people in football conduct transfers in a certain fashion, basically saying nothing until deals are done, and not disclosing interest of other clubs. Not our Bazza though, who''s pompous inflated self-importance seems to give him the right to continually blurt out borderline-fictitious hyperbole about the Craig Mackail-Smiths of this world, like some used-car salesman trying to convince you that someone else is coming any minute to offer a caseload of gold for that crappy Mondeo that you''re not even interested in anyway. Football clubs continually whinge about endless speculation manufactured by players and agents to suit their own ends, yet they cannot have it both ways when oiks like Fry are conducting themselves in a similarly dubious fashion on behalf of the clubs. I would suspect that our interest which "ended in March" according to the increasingly legendary McNally, may have been partially scuppered by Fry and his cronies attempting to hold a world-wide multi-million pound fire sale for a League 1 player with one good season under his belt. I think it is hugely to the credit of the current administration at NCFC that they are seemingly unwilling to do such business and have instead bought more proven players from more reputable administrations with far less fuss. Admittedly, it is more difficult for Peterborough as they evidently only have CMS as their prized cash cow, whereas the Vaughans and Morisons of this world are less significant to the overall well-being of their former clubs. However, I suspect all of this Frank Butcher car lot skullduggery will come back to bite them where it hurts, as they seem unable to shift an undoubtedly talented player in the form of his life without talking up fictitious transfers themselves. Regardless of the abilities of CMS, I think we''re well out of this one. If the porn-pedlars at West Ham or the Formula 1 mafia at QPR are the only clubs entertaining his absurdities then I think that says it all. Good luck to them. More power to you, Mr McNally, Sir! He is certainly a little old school in the way he behaves, but you cannot question his ability as a Director of Football (which is basically what he does now). He has spotted players like CMS, George Boyd etc in the lower leagues, paid small amounts of money for them and allowed Posh to build a strong exciting team. Yesterday I described Fry as a "football genius" on Twitter and I stand by that assesment of him. Weren''t Norwich supposed to have a £2m bid turned down in March? Everyone said Fry had missed the chance to make big money on CMS, but in reality he stayed at Posh, scored the goals they needed to get them promoted and now looks like they will get £3m for him. You can question his methods, but the results are faultless. Fry knows that several teams are interested in his player and he seems to be very effectively using the market to get a bid which is probably at least £500k over his actual value - if McNally had done this we would be signing his praises even more. It''s good there are still some characters in football, and it is refreshing to see someone who will stand up to the bigger teams rather than just rolling over. Peterborough could give Mackail-Smith away and they would still be in profit because of the extra money they gained from holding on to him and getting promotion on the back of his goals. They are now Championship, with a few players, including CMS that are sought after by "bigger" clubs with cash. The well-being of Peterborogh Football Club has to be his single aim. Fry''s diplomatic skills have always been questionable. He is a very self-confident individual (re: his spell at Birmingham) but that doesn''t excuse the unprofessioal approach that he has when dealing with other clubs, especially with transfer dealings. Kitman 0 Posted June 29, 2011 CMS stated that he would love to play in the Premier. So far only 1 premiership club have matched the valuation of him, and he has rejected that chance. Nobody else in the prem has met Fry''s valuation of the player and therefore, he is due to speak with Leicester. Fry has made a balls up of this, confirmed by the way he drove to CR to try and save the deal.Been said before, but I feel for CMS.
