Canary23 0 Posted May 22, 2011 With Birmingham being relegated and a possibility that Blackpool pipped Fulham for the fair play league does anyone know if that will relegate us and the play off winners to the first round in order to make the numbers work? jed exodous 0 Posted May 22, 2011 Does it matter? If we were in the first round and had won our first game we''d be thinking, great, lets get another win under our belt against hopefully lower league opposition. If we lost our opening game or drew, its a chance to bounce back...
Graham Humphrey 13 Posted May 22, 2011 The League Cup first round is usually the midweek before the Premier League season starts so could our season start with a cup game? That would be a bit bizarre.
BigManInTheBarclay 84 Posted May 22, 2011 who cares about the cups next season.....we should get knocked out early and concerntrate on the Prem!!!
Guest Posted May 22, 2011 If Blackpool get the "Fair Play" spot (which is not a certainty), the numbers seem to work if they give byes to the two highest-ranked FL clubs, i.e. West Ham and Swansea (or Cardiff if Swansea go up!).Then you have 68 teams in the 1st round, 34 get through. In the 2nd round, 34 + 12 PL teams not in Europe + West Ham + Swansea/Cardiff = 48 teams, 24 get through. In the 3rd round, 24 + 8 teams in Europe = 32 teams. If Fulham get into Europe instead, it seems to get more complicated and I''m not going to try to figure it out! [|-)] But I guess it would be sorted by giving Championship sides byes or even playing a preliminary round between some League Two sides. Bottom line is it probably won''t affect us - we''ll go out in our first game anyway!
Guest Posted May 22, 2011 Just realised the above is a load of guff since there will be 14 PL teams not in Europe!

Dunno why I''m so bothered as we will probably go out early and not be keen on doing a Birmingham, Middlesboro and erm Norwich in winning it and coming straight back down, but you have to try and win every game, right? Barclay hero 0 Posted May 23, 2011 Think it depends totally whether the fairplay side are still involved - remember they have to prequalify for Europe so could be knocked out well before the draw is madeIf not - then yes we''ll be in round 1 as will the playoff winners unless the format changes
