Waveney Canary 0 Posted May 3, 2011 I have heard and read already 3 times today in the press ''if paul lambert stays'' why on earth would he not stay for next season. I suspect unless PL again states his commitment we will have another summer of speculation.
paul moy 235 Posted May 3, 2011 He won''t go, but if he did there''s Martin O''Neill available, so I''m not worried at all.
Aggy 944 Posted May 3, 2011 No reason for him to go now. If we had not gone up, then I''d have been worried he might go to a West Ham type club. But I reckon he''ll get some decent money to spend with us, he''s got a great atmosphere going on at the club, we''ve got the momentum, he''s adored by the fans so won''t have everyone jumping on his back during any tough spells next season (like would probably happen at an established club), and millions more reasons why he won''t go anywhere. Dame to Blame 108 Posted May 3, 2011 Comes with the territory when you are successful . The testing time will be December if we are struggling and a mid table established prem team are struggling they could poach Lambert away IE coyle style.
Rob Sims 0 Posted May 3, 2011 I don''t think they mean anything by it other than. He''s done exceptionally well at Norwich with back to back promotionsHe''s been a target before by BurnleyHe may want a crack at the premiership with a larger playing budget / squad.I think Lambert will stay until he thinks there is nothing more he can do and he was also involved in the "7 year plan" or whatever it was get promoted / bounce once or twice - stay up.The way he comes across in media interviews can sometimes seem ''stand offish'' when he replies "they''ve been brilliant" refering to fans, playing squad, directors etc. He rarely comments on himself and it took a few days before he came out to put the burnley story to bed. Just the way he is. I fully expect (and hope) he will be our manager in 3years time.
Beetley Yellow 57 Posted May 3, 2011 Annoying but inevitable- we''re going to have to get to used to it. There are too many cash-rich but under performing teams in the PL (Blackburn and Villa come to mind) who may well have management vacancies come June / July. The Club will have to back Lambo financially as I''m sure he has a plan in mind as to how / where he needs to strengthen. We just have to hope the Directors can do this without bankrupting the club or blowing the opportunity we now have. A fine line to tread.
alysha 0 Posted May 3, 2011 Don''t think he will go but to state the other side of the argument - they are questioning whether he will stay not becuase he wants to jump ship as such, but possibly because he doesn''t want to tarnish what he has already achieved with the club - leave on a high now, instead of risking not being able to keep us up in the Premier League. Not my views but it is a valid argument
. 0 Posted May 3, 2011 I think we''re going to have to get used to this kind of thing. What will be will be.
Shaun Tilly Lace 0 Posted May 3, 2011 Relax folks, I''m 100% confident that Lambo will stay at Carrow Road next season. If we had missed out on promotion he might have been tempted by any offers to move on. The guy is a genius, and has a great future (and present!!) in the game. Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted May 3, 2011 He has a rare talent and needed a club with potential to take that forward. He has found that with us. We can bask in satisfaction today but with this guy and the club being so together i dont think the good times are over yet by any means
Yellow Bird 0 Posted May 4, 2011 I think he may stay, for now. It was interesting on Sky Sports last night he said something like ''it doesn''t matter what manager you have, the fans will always be there.....". He said that when all the Burnley speculation kicked off. I too think if we hadn''t made it to the Premiership, someone would definitely have come in for him and he would, I think, have moved on. I hope he can give at least one season with us in the Prem and see what happens. There is no doubt at all that clubs will sniff around and come in for him, he has just achieved back to back promotions for goodness sake! Fingers crossed, he will still be at Carrow Road this time next year. OTBC
Bovril 264 Posted May 4, 2011 He is very similar to Owen Coyle, a great ambitious young manager. If we didn''t get promoted, he was off in my book. However he''ll now have a season with us and then presuming we have a relegation struggle, the following summer will join a mid-table/uefa team, the obvious candidate is Aston Villa. Lambert is King 0 Posted May 4, 2011 We all know the day will come and when that day comes McNally will stabilise the club and probably make it stronger. Lambert will stop managing Norwich the day he feels he can take us no further - who knows when that maybe unlikely but it may even mean now, our rise has happened so quickly. Lambert has done more than he was hired to do and IMO he will view this as a job not yet completed, however should he be offered the Villa job, Everton job and possibly others he may have to take this if he feels it is his route to the top. Fair play to him he has never hid the fact that he wants to get to the top. In Paul Lamberts own words football fans are strange things and if we did go on a losing run in the premier league I bet there will be plenty going for blood claiming he is not capable of managing in the premier league and it was a step to far. Should this happen be careful what you wish for when people decide to boo as O''Neill shew with Leicester Celtic and Villa if you dont agree with me I''m off.
