Watford player ratings

Here''s my take, a bit late:Ruddy 8: it might have been a heavy defeat without him, considering the performance of the two centre halfs. an assured presence throughout Tierney 7: lively, seemed up for the fight, and covered for Whitbread''s bad positioning on a number of timesWhitbread and Ward 4: a bad day at the office. i like both players, but they were shocking for this match. every time watford got the ball in our penalty area, they looked like they had the better of them. i have confidence this was a one-off although i can''t help wishing barnett was fitR Martin 5.5: left ward exposed a few times, but was a good attacking presence.Surman 5: seemed off the pace all matchFox 5: really struggled to make any impact on the matchPacheco 6: we looked like scoring when he got the ball. but we didn''t!Crofts 5: this might have been a game which he could grab by the scruff of its neck, but he wasn''t his usual ever-busy presenceHolt 8: he really battled.got in some good crosses. even when clearly injured, he won a couple of crucial balls and got into good positions for the flurry of late corners. we f.ing love grant holt MOTMVokes 7: did what was asked of him. not the best goal he''ll ever score, but i don''t care!SUBS:mcnamee 9: unexpectedly brilliant. watford didn''t know what to do with himlansbury 5: pretty anonymous reallyJackson 7: well taken goal, though missed a sitter later. added a new dimension to the attackLambert 8: the team looked mentally fatigued and incredibly nervy in the first half, but his half time team talk clearly did the business

Not sure how Ruddy can be an 8 when the first goal has gone right through him. It was hardly as if we were bombarded and he was forced into save after save.

And I would say that Crofts was "ever-busy". Unfortunately he was busy doing nothing most of the game, ran around like a headless chicken quite a bit but at least he tried.

Not far off. Not sure how Ruddy can get an 8. His handling of crosses was decent but he should have done better with the first goal. I thought Graham drove the ball through him. But I was sat quite far back in the stand. Lambert I felt deserved about a 6/7. The sitatution demanded width much earlier than it finally came. Pacecho was a passenger for most of the game I felt.

I wouldn''t have said the goal was Ruddy''s fault; I thought the defenders in front of him should have done better and should never have put him in that position. But to be honest, someone jumped up in front of me at that point and I didn''t get a full view. So I''m happy to stand corrected!

Lansbury wasn''t anonymous when he came on by the way

if anything it shows how people see the game differently to others
