Clint 221 Posted January 17, 2005 When is Jonson going to start producing - our pre-Ashton record signing just seems to have no end product. He''s a winger who doesn''t beat anyone & can''t cross a ball but he does seem to be able to tackle - perhaps Worthy was trying to sign Ronny Jonson to replace Fleming & got a little confused!A number of times at Villa he had excellent chances to stick a decent ball into the box or shoot from very good positions & ended up running it out of play or playing it straight into Sorensons arms (once when our forwards outnumbered the Villa defenders - criminal from a 40+ capped international).Does anyone recall an assist from the guy or even a shot on target this season??? I can''t. So why is Huck''s getting all the grief for not producing the goods but no-one mentions Jonson? (Hucks looked far more dangerous than Jonson every match, even though for me, he''s being played out of postion). If Ashton''s going to score any goals he needs some service, which has got to come from the wingers. Pete Raven 276 Posted January 17, 2005 Assists against Liverpool and Everton are two that spring to mind...

To pass it out wide and then the player you''ve passed it to beats the full back and bangs it in the top corner does not count as an assist, that is a fantastic individual goal - not an assist.I can''t remember the one against Everton either but I''ll take your word for it that it happended.I personally agree with Clint, Jonson has been poor/awful and I completely agree with everything he has said. ZLF 334 Posted January 17, 2005 I cant se ethe point of starting to criticise the player who are trying hard and performing well - virtually unanimous approval from the national press that he was our best outfield player on sat and has impressed much over the last 8-10 games.A more improtant question is when will we next keep a clean sheet and all our back 4 have forgotten what defending is about.OTBC
