Sam Vokes of Wolves and Dani Pacheco of Liverpool join on loan

Recommended Posts

The stupid thing about this £50 bet is that you''ve said we only have to think hes been a good signing, not that he actually has to be one.

So on that basis everyone whos taken you up on the bet simply has to turn up on here, say they thought he was very good and the £50 is theirs.

I only hope you''re putting in the overtime at work, otherwise you might have to rob a few houses to pay all these people.

He started off in the reserves and scored in his first game against Bolton Wanderers in February 2008. He provided an assist for Krisztian Nemeth''s winner in the game that won Liverpool reserves the Premier Reserve League North title in April 2008. In May 2008 he claimed another assist in the Premier Reserve League final victory over Aston Villa.

He impressed Rafa Benitez with some good performances in the first team''s pre-season friendlies. He would have played in the Carling Cup fixtures against Leeds United and Arsenal, but he was away on international duty with Spain''s youth team at the time.

He did make his first team debut on 9th December 2009 as a substitute against Fiorentina at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League. He then came off the bench for his first Barclays Premier League appearance at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day. He also helped Liverpool beat Unirea Urziceni in the first leg of a UEFA Europa League tie. Again coming on as a substitute, he set up David Ngog to head home an 81st minute winner in front of The Kop.

He was one of the stars of the tournament at the UEFA U19 European Championships in France in the summer of 2010. In the group stages he netted a brilliant double in the 2-1 win over Portugal and was again on the scoresheet in a 3-0 hammering of Italy. He then opened the scoring in his side''s 3-1 semi-final defeat of England, before missing out on a gold medal after Spain were beaten 2-1 by France in the final.

But there was plenty of consolation for Dani - who''d started in all of Spain''s five games - as he finished as the tournament''s top scorer with four goals. He also had the honour of being named Goal.com''s World Player of the Week.

He''s quick, has lots of skills and can score from many different areas of the pitch. He can also play in different positions, though he says his favourite is behind the striker.

Dani Pacheco is a very talented player, and he could be a big star in the future.

Just looked on wiki and saw he was 6ft 2''. Did not realise he was so tall. I do wonder if wilbraham''s injury is worse than we all think and Vokes has been brought in to replace him?

I''m a bit late joining the thread, i haven''t read everything on here and no doubt someones posted something similar, but heres my take.

So we''ve signed an upcoming promising forward in Pacheco, he doesn''t seem to have played much, is he an out an out striker or more in the Wes mould?  I know nothing of this lad i''m afraid but hes got at least 8 games to make his mark and i''ll reserve judgement until i''ve seen him.  One or 2 Liverpool fans think hes promising, but playing U21 football and Championship football are worlds apart.

Vokes is not the signing i was hoping for.  Hes still young and still has time on his side, but hes had plenty of chances at Leeds, Bristol C and Sheff U and hasn''t done particularly well at any of them.  Again, fair do''s if he scores 4 or 5 and we go up then so be it, i''m not saying hes gonna be rubbish, i''m just not enthused by his recent record.

I, like most on here, was hoping for a more experienced head to come in, someone whos scored a few goals fairly regularly at this level and someone who can come in and do a job straight away rather than needing a few games to get up to speed.

When you look at players like Kamara, Kris Boyd, Delfouneso, and David Cotterill, all in my opinion would''ve been better options than Vokes.

Time will tell, and perhaps they will help us get the job done, but i''m feeling slightly underwhelmed this evening.

But as ever, in Lambert i trust...

[/quote]All of which are on huge five figure salaries, except probably Cotterill. And in fairness, he''s a winger, not a striker. I think your expectations are probably too high.

Boyd and Kamara perhaps would be on big salaries, the other 2 not so much so, but lets remember they''re only here for 2 months so even if it was £20,000 a week, thats £160,000 plus whatever fee the clubs charge.  I would imagine maybe we are paying around 5-10,000 for Vokes, so not THAT much more.  I missed Boyds transfer and just noticed in the last day or 2, he would''ve been a great signing, a natural finisher, who in a winning and positive team will score for fun.

I know its a difficult balancing act, its just a little frustrating when the afore mentioned players have gone to our rivals.

Like i said, i dont mean to have a go before we''ve seen them play, i just dont think they''re quite what we wanted and not what we were expecting.  Fingers crossed we can just get over the line...

I have seen lots of threads about Pacheco and how he is going to fire us to the Premier League but I actually think Sam Vokes is a very good signing as well.

From the few times I have seen him play he looks a real handfull and will definitely give us something physical.  I know his goal scoring record isn''t great and he has been moving from club to club on loan for quite a while but if anyone can bring the best out of a player who has potential it is Lambert.  Yes Pacheco is a good signing but I think Vokes could end up proving just as worthy.

I agree with the Lambert statement, if anyone can get the best out of him, it''s him.

Will be interesting to see, good to have some more competition anyway, it''s always a healthy thing within a squad.

IF Vokes is prepared to run through walls for Lambert, then we''ve got a guy who will complement Holt well up front, and he could, just be the man to get us over the line.

Lets face it, Jackson doesn''t cut it at Championship level, he''s quick, but his touch isn''t good enough. Martin and Wilbraham are injured, so we desperately need a quality Championship level striker. Vokes could just deliver. And the bonus for us is that he''s desperate to prove himself.

As for the guy from Liverpool, I have lower expectations considering he''s a bit lightweight and very inexperienced. He''ll either be a revelation or have zero impact. I expect the latter. Kind of like Gibbs when he came from Arsenal. But I hope he genuinely has some hunger and wants to make his mark here, rather than come here thinking he''ll be back at his ''big'' club in a couple of months time. Vokes however I think will be far more combative and influential.

I don''t understand some people? they are basing thier judgement of a player on purely statistical analysis. Some examples of how this might not work:

Chris Killen, 19 goals in 35 international starts, 16 goals in 25 appearences for Hibs (I have not included his poorer showing at Celtic); Would anyone on here want him back?

Ched Evans, prior to him coming to us, 16 appearances 1 goal, but I think most of us would have him back, despite only 13 goals in 66 appearences for sheff utd.

So rather than analysing like an accountant lets see what they bring to the party based on performance (not just strike rate)

On a side note

The risk factor for the club seems fairly low as thier fee for 8-10 games can not be huge, PL will soon tell if they can fit into the current system and as stated many provious fans do rate vokes, Pacheco loan reminds me of the Lupoli loan, thank god we PL not Glen Roeder to use him.

tis my first post be gentle

More excited about Pacheco than Vokes. He hasn''t had chance to prove himself yet and I''m sure he''ll want to make the most of the 8 games. PL stated they were both desperate to come and play so I believe him. Technically Pacheco is supposed to be very good - he''s also quick and uses both feet, which I think is the thing Simeon misses..a left foot, or the confidence and technique to use it. You''d think our passing style would suit a young technically sound and pacey Spaniard, but who knows..I am looking forward to finding out though and really hope (like everyone else here) that he proves to be a revelation.

I don''t normally participate in forum policing - but theres about 8 threads on him, on this page, most referring to his youtube vids.

Yeah he does look class from the vids though, looks like a player not afraid to run at defenders and a free kick specialist.

Coming from someone who follows Liverpool

as well as the city I am over the moon to see Danni @ City

ever since Liverpool signed him from barca he has always been talked about as a

great talent for the future, although chance at Liverpool first team has been

limited, the games he has played for Liverpool there has been some great signs.

I can’t wait to see him play @ CR, great news for both clubs, hopefully this

will give him some more experience for when he’s back at anfield.
