Match Preview: Norwich City vs Swansea City

Recommended Posts

NORWICH CITY vs SWANSEA CITY on 9/4/11, BST 17:20Today''s early evening match brings Norwich City and Swansea City together in the Npower Championship.SWANSEA: Having recently demolished promotion hopefuls Leeds & Forest at the Liberty, Swansea will be hoping to make it a third home win over high-flying teams in quick succession. However, on paper Norwich will be hardest fixture out of the three, with their consistently terrific away form coupled with the sky-high confidence the players will be on after the 6-0 thrashing of Scunthorpe on Saturday the Swans'' big stars will have to be on their game if they wish to win and stay in the hunt for 2nd place.Key Player: Scott Sinclair. The former Chelsea man has been in top form for the Swans this season finding the net no less than 22 times in all competitions and he has also been the provider of many assists. Sinclair can play as a winger or up top as a striker, and no matter what position Brendan Rodgers plays him the Norwich defenders will have to be ''on the ball'' to deal with him effectively. Recent form: LDLWL. Despite the convincing victories over Leeds and Forest, Swansea have been rather unconvincing of late, losing 3 games against strugglers Derby (2-1), Scunthorpe (1-0) & Preston (2-1). Swansea''s one win in their last 5 games was the one already mentioned against Nottingham Forest, in which new loan signing Fabio Borini bagged a brace. Predicted line-up:01 De Vries02 Williams03 Taylor05 Tate22 Rangel 12 Dyer 21 Sinclair24 Allen27 Gower14 Dobbie 15 BoriniNORWICH: The Canaries will be looking to carry on from where they left off last Saturday in their 6-0 humiliation of Scunthorpe at Carrow Road. Simeon Jackson finally got back to scoring ways having not found the net for over 5 months, with an incredible 20 minute hattrick having come on from the bench.Despite having an incredible record away from home this term, even Norwich will be wondering if they can bring anything home from South Wales. Key Player: Grant Holt. The Canaries captain celebrated his second hattrick of the campaign last weekend by signing a new and improved contract on Wednesday which will keep him at the club until 2014. Holt bagged his 50th goal for the club on Saturday in just his second season, which even he admitted was an incredible feat. Holt''s non stop work rate will mean Swansea''s defense will give the Swansea defense no rest bite and hopefully pave way for him, or one of Norwich''s other forwards to score.Recent form: DWWDW. Unlike Swansea, Norwich have been in terrific form of late; picking up 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 games. The victories came at the expense of Leicester (3-2), Bristol City (3-1), and Scunthorpe (6-0).Predicted line-Up:RuddyR. Saturday 21st August 2010. Norwich City 2-0 Swansea City. John Ruddy saved a late penalty whilst the scoreline was 0-0 before a late Norwich rally resulted in an own goal and a stylish Simeon Jackson volley to given the Canaries the points. My prediction: Swansea City 2-2 Norwich City. Please feel free to update this thread with news, views, rumours and predictions.Thank you,Excited Canary COME ON YOU YELLOWS [<:o)]

This can be the match thread [:)]  Very nervous and excited at the moment, I would be more nervous if we didn''t have the cushion of staying 2nd no matter what result.COME ON LAMBERT AND THE BOYS YOU CAN DO IT! [Y]

Im sorry but whitbread needs to come off. He''s getting beaten far too easily every time they get the ball... 2-0 down and we need to stand up and be counted now.

Whitbread stops it becoming 3-0, great tackle. We look very flat and Swansea are showing us how to play break football.  Come on Lambo, time for some inspiration.

one or 2 backsides need kicking half time.. we are missing Barnett! wouldnt suprise me if we dont see one of the centre backs 2nd half.this is a Chris Martin type game....

one of the most frustrating halves I''ve seen us play all season. Giving the ball away everywhere.

Need some serious rockets up arses for the second half

We are badly missing Hoolahan who seldom gives the ball away and brings others into play. I wonder if Pacheco can play his role so we can bring on Jackson in the 2nd half.

To be honest we''ve look second best since their second goal. Not direct enough when we get in their half.

I kow the weaknesses have been at the back but Ido tihnk we''re missing Wes. He covers so much ground it''s like having an extra player. Perhaps we should push Lansbury up front and play Pacheco at the top of the diamond.

The Ruddy save and Whitbread tackle were massive and have kept us in the game. Lambert has always proved his worth when he''s needed to change things and he will today. As long as we get the next goal, I expect them to feel the pressure and us to take advantage. Two great goals though.

Hope we see a different Norwich 2nd half.

That said the 2 Sheep goals have been top drawer.

Still think we can sneak a draw.

Hope the Welshies realise we have thrived on being 1 or 2 down all season !!!

2-2 or 2-3 Norwich final score.
