I am a Banana 0 Posted March 11, 2011 If we go up, and get the £90m and the club clears the debts (£20m) and the club give lambert £10m to strengthen the squad and then allow the other £50m for stadium increase and keep some for january, who would YOU buy. If we have the squad we have now (not including loanees). Assume that the player would join us but obviously the price must be realistic. (e.g. can''t buy berbatov for £4m)I would buy the following;Max Gradel / Scott Sinclair;(£1.5m) There both fantastic wingers and would give the strikers plenty of ammo!Ched Evans;(£1.5m) Think he is a brill player and is still getting better. With the chance that sheff utd are going down(reason for cheap price) we could pick him up fairly cheap and he would 100% come back.Another CB maybe 2(£3m-£5m), cant think of anyone at the moment though! As i don''t like ward as it is and with only Barnett and Whitbread currently we would need back up in that area!
Bill 1,788 Posted March 11, 2011 Could you please explain to us all where you get this £90m figure from ?
spencer 1970 214 Posted March 11, 2011 i like scott sinclair too but we''d never get him for 1.5m - more like 5m now. do you really get £90m for going up?

Deloitte carried out a survery before the playoff final between Cardiff and Blackpool. They estimate that a Premiership place is worth £40 million assuming a side spends one season at that level. Under the new proposals a team can then expect to receive £48 million in parachute payments spread over the next 4 years. So it is in effect £90 million over 5 years in a worst case scenario. Hope this helps.
spencer 1970 214 Posted March 11, 2011 cheers Jacko - I thought it was staggered.I do know the the play off winners get more £££ than the league champions. I always thought that was a bit harsh.
Bill 1,788 Posted March 11, 2011 I think that was understood, it is just banana''s words suggest that ''we take it'' ie it is paid to us as one lump sum to do with as we wish.My concern is that a lot can happen in three years.Even then Premier League Players cost far far more in wages that the two leagues we have been. Most will also have contracts that will continue to be paid if we get relegated - hence the parachute payments.
Yobocop 1,444 Posted March 11, 2011 I think we need to start looking abroad, there is a hot bed of talent in South Korea.I suggest we sign Ver Ry Drunk and Ran dee Men both upcoming talents in South Korea, after that we need some journeymen, so Ambrosini from Milan will do the trick. The rest of the money we should save in an Lloyds TSB ISA and watch it grow.

It may not be the most popular idea amongst supporters who want you to chase the dream but it means the club will still be standing if you go down. I think it is important to have an agreement in a contract which states a players wage will be cut if the team is relegated. I think players would be accept such a deal if you also offered a release clause for a set fee should the team be relegated. So there just needs to be a sensible balance. The other way around this is to have a rigid wage structure. If you look at Blackpool no player at the club is paid more than £10k a week under any circumstances. Doesnt matter even if you are Charlie Adam and virtually every team in the league wants to sign you. I really admire the way they have gone about it this season. They have played some great attacking football and the business strategy has been spot on. They have completed their ground and at the very least the legacy of the Premiership will be that they will be one of the big hitters in the championship for years to come. Not bad for a club who were nailed on by the bookies to go back down to league 1 last season.
