Rolf Harris 31 Posted March 18, 2011 Queens Park Rangers are amongst a number of clubs considering a shock bid for Norwich skipper Grant Holt, skysports.com understands. Holt, nominated for Championship Player of the Year, has been in wonderful form with 16 league goals this season.Norwich have made an unsuccessful bid for Peterborough striker Craig Mackail-Smith, which has seemingly put some clubs on alert about Holt. There is no suggestion that Norwich are in any way looking to let Holt go, but they could very well have to fend off some late bids.Holt has just over 12 months left on his current deal at Carrow Road and they have yet to offer him a new contract.QPR, who are favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League, could now be tempted to make a late bid for Holt.Middlesbrough, who are short of striker options, are also thought to be keeping tabs on the situation.http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6819975,00.html
Daniel Taylor 0 Posted March 18, 2011 Well I can really see us loaning him out for a permanent move, don''t think so somehow.
Joanna Grey 0 Posted March 18, 2011 The worst part of it is that there will be some on here proclaiming doom and gloom and blaming DS for considering letting him go.Biggest non-story of the week.
Carlos Valderrama 0 Posted March 18, 2011 Would Middlesborough be appealing to Holt and its proximity to his home?Cant see us going for this myself given our position and where we could be next year. Unless we can use the money to replace him immediately. I think the question is, with the prem in touching distance can Grant Holt step up to that level? I would love to think yes but I am really not sure...
birchfest 397 Posted March 18, 2011 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHes going know where. Imagine how much they would have to pay if unproven CMS is worthy of 3 Million... Holt a striker actually cutting it in the Championship would have to be double that [;)]Also Sky are aware that we are looking for a partner for Holt.... not replacement? Lazy journalism. pete 318 Posted March 18, 2011 Lets be realistic GH wants to move further north and money could well be better, but GH still 30+ and never tested in Prem, it would be a risk for QPR, Middlesboro not such a risk but a club going nowhere.
@jayncfc 0 Posted March 18, 2011 WOW, QPR must be worried we are coming for them, no chance of this happening and just trying to unsettle the squad.

Alex Moss 2,165 Posted March 18, 2011
WOW, QPR must be worried we are coming for them, no chance of this happening and just trying to unsettle the squad.
THAT ^A blatant attempt to unsettle us, it seems that certain teams in the Championship are looking on at our form and team spirit with envy, and are perhaps not as confident of the top spot as we thought? I actually like that they''ve come in for him... I think we should make a bid for Taarabt -BRING ON THAT POINTS DEDUCTION PLEASE.
Bury Yellow 2 Posted March 18, 2011 Of course it''s utter rubbish but on one point raised - dear old Colin is a great admirer of Holty as are most managers in our league. What he says after a match which he hasn''t won must be taken with a great amount of salt :)
Adam NCFC 0 Posted March 18, 2011 Standard of journalism is becoming awful. How can anyone think this is even worthy of a thought, let alone being one of the main headlines on the championship page of the biggest sports based company in world football? They''re becoming a laughing stock. a1canary 0 Posted March 18, 2011 I like how that page is headed "Speculation" on the browser frame. I also note the writer of that drivel is on Twitter. Anyone care to tweet him and ask where he gets this crap from or if he has completely made it up.F*** i hate sky! I hate them for so many reasons. I hate them because of their sh*t journalism, their ''boys club'' culture, their domination of so much sport that i like, and most of all for their creation of the premier league that we are all obsessed with because it''s the only thing that can save us from a lifetime of debt. Hmm, have i gone off topic a bit!?
natncfc 0 Posted March 18, 2011 Fair point bury yellow. Players still dont take kindly to being slated like that but if it for a chance in the prem and heavier pockets who knows hey
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted March 18, 2011 Fair enough - I reckon the journalist is a Queer Pork Ringer fan perhaps? But if not, it would be foolish to totally dismiss it as a no-goer. We know what Colin''s like - Would any of you really believe he''s not capable of this kind of unsettling tactic towards us?
Lets be aving you! 0 Posted March 18, 2011 "Would Middlesborough be appealing to Holt and its proximity to his home?"Wouldn''t have thought so as his home area is Cumbria, in the west, and Teesside is in the east.Anyway, hadn''t someone on here posted that his family had recently moved to Norfolk? But just letting you know Holt has moved his family down to Norfolk about a month ago, i doubt he has any reason to move back up north now. He will finish his career, or at least the best of it here. Hucks style player, Norwich is in his blood and that is why he would never be the same player for another team as he is us, just one those situations where the club and the player match up so well.Holt is out saviour, wouldnt sell him for 10M, we will be in the prem next year with him leading the line and CMS backing him up
can u sit down please 0 Posted March 18, 2011 There is only one place that Holt will leave us for and that will be when his contract expires.... Carlisle. He WILL finish his career there.

barclay_canary 0 Posted March 18, 2011 All we need is for Norwich to say No. thats it. Holt goes nowhere. Prem or not. We must keep our greatest asset. But we should all take note in the fact that Lambert and McNally and Co are building a team not getting rid of our best players. We all know City have a looooooong reputation of cashing in on our top players But now i firmly believe that Holt will sign a new contract and tell QPR to go F&^% themselves. William Darby 0 Posted March 18, 2011 This story is nothing to do with crap journos or anything else. It''s purely a tactic by some people within the media to try and unsettle ''unfashionable'' Norwich from gaining promotion. It shows some teams are worried we''ll gain 1st or 2nd place.I say f*** them and get the job done. And stick the vees up to them come May
