Queens Park Rangers are amongst a number of clubs considering a shock bid for Norwich skipper Grant Holt, skysports.com understands.

Holt, nominated for Championship Player of the Year, has been in wonderful form with 16 league goals this season.

Norwich

have made an unsuccessful bid for Peterborough striker Craig

Mackail-Smith, which has seemingly put some clubs on alert about Holt.

There

is no suggestion that Norwich are in any way looking to let Holt go,

but they could very well have to fend off some late bids.

Holt has just over 12 months left on his current deal at Carrow Road and they have yet to offer him a new contract.

QPR, who are favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League, could now be tempted to make a late bid for Holt.

Middlesbrough, who are short of striker options, are also thought to be keeping tabs on the situation.
