Run-in progress report

Recommended Posts

The league table of the to six teams at the outset, and in terms of points gained in the first four games of the final twelve, is enouraging:

QPR 9 points

NCFC 8 points

Leeds 7 points

Swansea 4 points

Cardiff 2 points

Forest 1 point

Conclusions:

Forest and Cardiff are struggling at the moment, the former seemingly fading away.

We are doing well - having gained on all the others except QPR. More to the point over the 4 matches we have gained 2 points per match, and are the only unbeaten among the six. The average points gain compares with 59 in the previous 34 games, or 1.7 per match. Recently the team has become a better points acquiring machine! This is the time to do it.

There is a long way to go, as we must continue to repeat, but......

Good stats, thanks - hopefully we can keep it going over the next three.  That late equaliser against Cardiff was a big relief yesterday as was Sheff Utd upsetting the form book by beating dirty Leeds.

I shall try to explain.

The six teams at the top of the Championship a couple of weeks ago each had 12 games to play.

They have now each played four more games, that is they now have only 8 further games to play.

My table showed how many points each has accumulated over the four games, on the basis of 3 points for a win, and 1 for a draw.

Norwich with 8 points, from two wins and two draws, are second behind QPR, who have won 3 and lost 1.

Norwich had accumlated 8 points, or 2 per game on average, QPR with 9 points averaged 2.25 per game.

The teams below Norwich have improved their points tally by less.

The implication is that over the admittedly small number of games, Norwich have done well, and certainly average more points per game then throughout the season previously.
