We needed Chris Martin out there last night...

Recommended Posts

Although he hasn''t been banging them in for fun his season, his general link up play and intelligence on the ball was missing last night (and to an extent the Leeds game).  Now I don''t want to turn this into another anti-Wilbraham thread but I don''t see any goals or contribution coming from him any time soon. He seems too reluctant to shoot and for such a tall player he ain''t great in the air either. Now the court case nonsense is done with, hopefully Chrissy can get fit again and start playing like he is capable of.

Thats easy to say after the game. But really ?? Chris Martin is no better or worse than Jackson or Wilbraham. We need a striker so badly to partner Holt, who is a great championship striker, just a shame we have 3 league one srikers who are identical in terms of ability.

I agree with OP.

Martin has far more ability than either Jackson or Wilbraham, hense Lambert''s decision to occasionally play him in an attacking midfield role (from where he played excellently against QPR in particular). I don''t see Martin as an out and out striker, so to purely judge him by goals is incidental.

He should have grabbed a few more lately, granted, but which of the three do you reckon Holty prefers playing with? Martin all the time...now his court case is out of the way hopefully he can return for the last 10 games and fire us to promotion.

He gave the stats for League appearances and goals, Gillingham was in the League Cup.

For what it''s worth (apart from in front of goal) I thought Wilbraham was decent last night.

23 goals last season too, and he didnt start every game, certainly not until Lambert got his first XI sorted.

I know he has been a silly boy with some of his antics off field, but why can''t we champion a good young player for once. I think we can all see he has talent; let''s get behind the lad.

As we should Jackson and Wilbraham too, if they play. You won''t hear any boos against Barnsley as we are away and those fans appreciate players for their effort not just ability.

Yes, I think Martin is better than the others but if they are wearing yellow and green, I will get behind them.

Get over the Cody thing , Jackson was way better in the lower leagues than Cody , he would be even more outclassed than the strikers we have now .

Four of those were against lowly Paulton in the Cup, and the majority of the other 19 were before he signed his new contract. He has done little since then and it''s obvious that Martin only plays well when his future is at stake. Giving him a long contract is the worst thing Norwich ever did, and they did it twice !!
