fao walkern canary important

Recommended Posts

HI there,

I had to drop something off in walkern tonight about half 6 when I drove through I noticed two teenage girls walking down the road both dressed in black it was the road as you come in from stevenage...I thought how stupid of them, they might get hit.

Well when I made my way back to stevenage the road was blocked by police and ambulance. I Think it was pretty obvious what had happened. AS you live in the village I didn''t know if you had heard anything? I hope they''re both ok

I wish I''d stopped to pick them up and drive them to a safe place to walk...but you know what its like these days!

HiIf you had stopped last night to offer a lift, I would have been very surprised if they had got into to your car, so don''t worry on that score.Nothing to serious it would seem

TWO teenage girls have been hospitalised after being struck by a car in Walkern last night.

Both 17-year-old pedestrians were rushed to Lister Hospital after the

ambulance service were alerted to Stevenage Road at 6.20pm.

Ambulance

service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who attended the incident, said:

“Both of the girls were very lucky indeed not to have received serious

injuries following the collision.

“One was thrown in to the field adjacent to the road and received an injury to her ankle and face.

“The other girl involved injured her leg.”

Paramedics treated them both at the roadside before they were taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

Thank god...I wish them both a speedy recovery and I hope they think twice before walking down an unlit road wearing dark colours again!

Nice of you to show such concern, Peas.Another poster was right in saying they almost certainly wouldn''t have got in your car.......more likely they would have rung the police and you''d have spent several hours down at the station trying to explain yourself. It seems that these two got off lightly, partly due to it being early in the evening and therefore probably less likely to be under the influence.I remember reading a story a while back where one winter a family were driving home late at night down a country lane when they almost collided with a scantily clad young girl tottering along on her way home. It was freezing cold night, and, as she was drunk and pretty much incapable of anything they offered her a lift. The girl refused the lift - even though this was clearly a safe option - and, perhaps unsurprisingly, she was found frozen to death the next day in an adjoining field.A sad story, but, thinking of some of my inebriated exploits over the years, I''m quite surprised that things like this don''t happen more often......
