City 2nd 193 Posted March 6, 2011 Like many I was as patient as the rest of the crowd at carra rd yesterday at the bequest of our leader, following on from the (poor) result against Doncaster, and it has to be said, what is, really, a poor home record for a side challenging in the top six. What I don''t understand, however, is Lambert''s take on Willbrahams and Jackson, who to be honest do not cut the mustard at this level. Lambert openly stated recently in the media that he brought in the former not as ''an out and out striker,'' but for his ''hold up play etc etc.'' Jackson came to NCFC from Gillingham as part of the Cody deal........in response to Cody''s form at Gillingham in the last few weeks, Lambo states that he is playing at a lower level etc etc, as if to suggest that is the right level for him. This maybe so, but Jackson is no striker at this level and only scored his goals and made his name in the lower leagues, and for the amount of games he has played we need no further proof that he, and Wilbrahams, are unlikely to hit the necessary heights to push us towards second place or the play off positions. This being the case, why oh why does Lambert bring on both these players against Preston and similarly in several recent matches. They just are not good enough and neither were or are anywhere near creating chances themselves or getting themselves into scoring position. Whilst I appreciate it may be difficult for Lambo to find strikers to ''bring in'' it is very very apparent that without somebody our challenge may just ''tail off''.......many of our nearest challengers are thumping the bottom sides and we simply cannot rely on our away form to carry us through, especially with the likes of games like Leicester and Swansea coming up. And I do not buy the constant suggestion from the boss that we should ''remember where we have come from, and how it was a year ago etc etc etc.'' This is now, and we will never have a better chance, regardless of where we have come from. That''s history, done and dusted. We apparently have the funds, so do it Lambo, you know as well as we do that we need someone in, we have been patient enough, and when one looks at sides who have challenged in the play off positions in previous seasons, does a second season follow.......( Look at Sheffield Utd & Preston to name but two)......! As a board, manager and crowd, we have to push this great chance we have onwards.

Scunthorpe and Preston have both taken points off our rivals in recent weeks. It''s a topsy-turvy division and it''s almost impossible to predict results.2. Lambert is trying to bring someone in - Robbie Blake turned us down. Why bring in another substandard striker of Wilbraham/Jackson level? If the right player is available, he''ll do everything he can to sign him. If clubs don''t want to let players out, or if players don''t want to come here, what more can he do?
